Guest guest
With all this talk of sugar-free products I thought I'd share my experience so far. I decided to just stay away from anything sweet as much as possible, so I wouldn't end up craving sweet stuff. I'm in Phase II, so I can have fruit, I occasionally chew Trident Sugar Free gum, and I have sugar-free syrup (uses Splenda) maybe once a week when we have whole wheat pancakes, but I have purposely avoided the " treat " type foods, and I can tell you that my taste buds are really changing. I am finding that foods are tasting really good without the sweetness. Fruit is really a treat. This morning I had oatmeal with sliced strawberries, and it was soooooo good! I used to have to have brown sugar in it. I think the most sugar I get is in my whole grain breads I buy; I don't think you can find bread that doesn't use sugar as an ingredient to work with the yeast, but I know it's a limited amount. I also made the chili recipe shared on here (it was so yummy - thank you for sharing!) that called for Splenda, but I found I had to add salt and will probably try leaving the Splenda out next time. My taste buds are simply changing, and I am liking the effect. Anyone else noticing this? Vie
