Guest guest
I understand the theory behind IE and have read a couple of books that connected with me. After years and years of extreme dieting and binging, I just don't get how I am actually supposed to just stop eating when I'm full. If I eat, I want to eat more. It's now Friday evening and I'm terrified of the upcoming weekend. A weekend means no structure and I'm anxious that I'm going to get fat over the weekend. I want dinner, but I'm just so scared to eat. Sorry for venting.
Guest guest
You may just keep eating once you start. You may just gorge yourself on chocolate if you allow yourself to eat it. You may just down that giant size bag of chips and a two liter bottle of Coke. You may just gain a few pounds. That's a real possibility once you give yourself permission to eat. What I have to ask you is: " What would be so awful about gaining a few pounds? What would be so awful about being fat? " The one thing I notice over and over and over again is that people, especially women, treat eating and weight as character issues rather than health issues. If you are hungry, it's because you need to eat. It's a paradox, but if you feel guilty about eating, you are more likely to eat more than if you don't feel guilty about it. Once you free yourself from the guilt of eating, you'll find that you'll start to make more and more choices based on health and feeling good. Go eat your dinner. Enjoy it and savor it. Notice how the flavors blend together. Notice how your body feels as you're eating and when you're done. God gave us food not only for fuel, but for pleasure. I think it's a sin not to appreciate that gift. > > I understand the theory behind IE and have read a couple of books that > connected with me.
