Guest guest
Hi Bernadette, with the green bm, do you think your daughter has a candida problem? When I had horrible candida and cleansed it out it was green, no food particles or anything I ate, just green. The natural path I was seeing then confirmed that it was indeed candida. I just recently completed a history paper on Abraham Lincoln's mercury poisoning, (due to medication for depression) and during my research ran across this: " Physicians at the time believed that mercury stimulated bile flow, because they noticed that it turned brown stools green. Doctors now know that mercury stops intestinal bacteria from turning stools into their normal color. " This might help you figure out the problem. I'm new and not up on all the different supplements and what ya'll take with what but I'll throw out a few ideas based on experience working in a peds clinic many moons ago. Is he getting any type of iron either as supplements, or in any type of fortified nutritional products such as ensure, pediasure, etc.? Iron can turn the stool a most ugly color of dark green to almost black. Also what is he eating as far as veggies go? Some of the veggies can turn the stool green too, especially spinach which is full of iron as well. Just a couple of ideas. Vickie

In my family, green bm means the person ate something not tolerated, or ate something blue, green, or purple. A stomach virus can cause the foods to pass thru the stomach without fully being digested, which can cause green bms. Dana
Guest guest
> My son has had a fairly mild stomach virus. During that time, his (fully > formed) BMs have become a dark green. I've seen this happening when I give my son OLE. Also, eating a lot of green leafy vegetables could do this (from the chlorophyll). As somebody else said, there are some artificial colors in foods that could do that too (because they are not digested, I think). Also, some bile acids are green. When the stool goes through the large intestine too fast (mostly in case of diarrhea) could cause this. There are many causes... I don't think it's anything serious...
