My personal torture was this last week. We were on vacation staying with my in-laws and even though I told my mother in law I was doing this diet, there was dessert every night that she would hound me to have - two nights they went out for ice cream at this fabulous little ice cream place and one night we went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant that every dish was pasta based - not whole wheat variety either.

Don't you love it when people claim to be trying to feed you when in reality they are really undermining your efforts.

Well, today I was faced with my biggest sweet craving. One, I just plain ole

love sweets. Second, I LOVE cake. Third, I LOVE chocolate cake.

OK, so I go to my morning rounds (around 10am) Somebody announces that they

wanted to thank a nurse for all her help. So, they baked a cake. Not just any

cake, mind you. " Better Than Sex Cake - Chocolate version " Chocolate cake,

fudge, whipped cream, heath bar, condensed milk, etc etc. OH MY GOSH.

It looked decadent. Everybody dug in, but I said 'no thanks'. It was so hard

to do, but I knew I would feel bad later. Of course, everybody was saying " OH

MY GOSH this is SOOO good " , and licking their forks. I could see it, could

smell the gooey chocolate. Geesh.

I had to sit in that room for 1 hour with that cake right there. A couple of

times, I thought " Just one sliver won't hurt " . But, I know myself. In the

'olden days'.. left alone with that cake, I'd put a major dent in it. I could

not tempt myself like that.

Finally I made it out, and I was so proud of myself!!!!

It isn't easy, but I am finding that saying 'No, thank you' is not as tough as

it used to be. But, if only people would listen! I say 'No, thanks', and they

say " why not?/ C'mon, one little piece? " Cake Peer Pressure!

Just had to share.

This was all on top of spending five days at theme parks where the most nutricious food they sell is the popcorn. All they kept saying was I had will power - all I wanted to do was eat a double scoop of ice cream but I resisted and lost a pound last week.
