I saw a guy in front of me in line at Walmart with the Dannon carb Light and

Fit . I thought that sounded good. I like the Walmart yogurt, I believe I

will stick with it. I am sure it is less expensive. I especially like it

mixed with some Kashi Good Friends or Go Lean. I believe that would be

Phase II friendly.

I thought Carrots were a no no even in Phae two where you can only have

them very sparingly.

I thought Carrots were a no no even in Phae two where you can only have

them very sparingly.

Sounds to me like they didn't want to put anything in writing.

Now I'm confused...I thought that it was the Carb Smart Yogurt that

wasn't yogurt.

It's fat-free plain yogurt on the Phase 1. I copied the changes to

milk at www.southbeachdiet.com and you will find them below. I hope

that this helps.

Old Version:

Avoid all dairy in Phase 1, except for less than 2 tablespoons fat-

free ½ and ½, nonfat milk, 1 percent milk, or soy milk allowed with

coffee.

New Version:

Phase 1:

Now includes 1 percent or fat-free milk, low-fat plain soy milk (4

grams of fat or less per serving), 1 percent or fat-free buttermilk,

and fat-free plain yogurt on the Phase 1 " foods to enjoy " list.

Limit dairy to 2 servings a day. Note: Feel free to flavor your fat-

free plain yogurt like a ricotta creme.

Phase 2:

May introduce artificially sweetened nonfat flavored yogurt, but

limit this variety to 4 ounces daily. Note: Since the SBD is still

low in saturated fat, high-fat whole milk products will remain on

the " foods to avoid " lists for all Phases.

If it is also nonfat, then that should be OK. Is it sugar free, or no sugar

added? Most lite yogurts are actually " no sugar added " due to the natural sugar

of dairy.

I prefer the Blue Bunny Brand, just because I like the taste of splenda better

than aspartame.

And, remember, the flavored ones are designated for Phase 2.

My husband and I just did the taste test for the Carb Freedom yogurt and

the Lite 85 Yogurt by Blue Bunny. Someone had said that the Lite 85 was

better for us SBD'ers even though it has more carbs. The Lite 85 has no

fat and defiantly does taste quite a bit better. My hubby even liked it.

So we are lite 85 yogurt fans now by Blue Bunny. :)

Odds are the one with less carbs has more artificial stuff added to

it since some of the carbs are from the lactose. I'd stick with the

one that was " real " yogurt since we don't count carbs on South Beach.
