Guest guest
I have been on betaseron for about 3 years. It is effective but I find a low fat diet and lots of vitamins just as important. After an exacerbation last year, my doc was considering putting me on something else. But, as I told him that the only active lesions were not in my brain, I wanted more time to work with diet and rest and exercise to see if that didn't keep me inactive. He relented and I went about 10 months without exacerbating. I do know that when I was in a time between medications, I knew that I needed the betaseron because I could tell my symptoms were exacerbating. Actually brought me into double vision at that time. I feel like it works. As far as side effects...take the shot in the evening, take tylenol before the shot, 1/2 hr or so...and keep cortisone cream, and ice packs around if you tend to react at the injection sites.
