Guest guest
Hi Bobby. Glad you got your Armour!! Starting low is great, and not staying on the low dose too long is great. But at some point, you have to stop at the particular dose, and allow yourself to be on that particular dose at least 5 weeks to see what it is doing for you (or not doing for you). There was a guy on another forum who kept upping and upping every week or every few weeks, not allowing each dose to meet it's maximum effect. Before long, he was up to 6 grains I believe, and found himself horribly overdosed. He had to start all over again, doing it much slower. For comparison, I am on my current optimal dose at 2 1/4 grain. When I was around 1 1/4 grain, I started doing labs every 5 weeks (it's the only good thing about my insurance--cheap labs). If you can't do labs, you check your temp and just feel it all out, one small step at a time!! Janie aka ThyroDiva > Ok here it goes... I am starting with 1/4 grain 2x per day, > sublingual (sp)... will up it every week or so, and stop if I have > ANY question about how it is making me feel... Guest guest
Your body doesn't feel the effect of the medication you take today for 7 - 10 days. (If you missed taking it today you won't feel it for 7-10 days.) You would need to take a dose for more than a week to even notice if it is working. Louise PS Likewise if you stop taking it all together it would take 6 - 8 weeks for your body to use up all that it has stored. > Hi Bobby. Glad you got your Armour!! Guest guest
Remarkably, some folks feel the effect of the T3 in Armour within just a few days. I was one of them--noticing it on the 3rd day--it was probably my body going " HOORAY " !! ) But the T4 does take awhile to build, thus the need to wait the full 5 weeks minimum to see what is going on. Guest guest
That's mostly true for T4.. but many feel the effects of T3 immediately..... When I had my thryoid storm and then had RAI it took 6 months to get all the excess hormone out of my tisses and find out where I stood.... Guest guest
Carol, Yep.. normal breaths.. I've found it easiest to just turn my head to watch the clock.. then use my fingers to count the breaths in one minute... if I do it in my head I change the way I breathe and it comes out less. Before got a source for meds my breathing was so bad that when a commercial came on tv I could chose to not breathe... Not hold my breath, just not breathe.. and go the whole 2 or 3 minutes just sitting there... not breathing... scared the dickens out of me.... Now I'm back on meds.... can't do that anymore!! I get all gaspy and start sucking in air, like I " m supposed to! *big grin* Topper () aka ThyroGeek (one of the four ThyroMusketeers) On Fri, 7 Nov 2003 09:56:55 -0800 (PST) Carol Brown writes: > How do you check your resperations? Guest guest
Good for you. It seems more and more folks are being more active about their health.... finding better docs, being more assertive for better care, or taking their care into their own hands... I guess we're all just getting tired of feeling like crap all the time and continually being ignored!
