Guest guest
I posted this on Thursday and not sure if anyone noticed. See, I have just been taking pride in my ability to really not eat that much. That is what I am trying to do. I have gotten everyone's message though to try and stick with your BMR. I would not call this starving though.. lol Thanks, Dianne > Hi all, > > Well, I just finished my dinner so I thought I would tell everyone > what I had to eat today. > > Breakfast (About 10 am) > > 1-1/4 cup of Raisin bran with non-fat milk. Guest guest
Hi Dianne. Yes, I noticed - big time - your message when it was first posted. But I know from experience that if you are not ready to hear that the old 'the lower the calorie the better' advice is wrong - well, there's not a darn thing I can do about it. So, I choose to biye my tounge and say nothing. Now that all the BMR stuff has been posted, and you have at least heard these things...there may come a point when you decide to try that and boy will I be here to help :-) Untill then, I know how hard it is to do what your doing, and I want to say " Great job!!! " , but I can't - because I don't want to encourage you do do what I personlay think may hurt you or your goals. Kind of like If I told you how proud I was that I hadn't eatin in 3 days, and today when I ate for the first time I threw it up. Well, I may be proud, but certainly you couldn't encourage me - you know I'm hurting myself. (I didn't do that by the way >:-) <sigh> I know your trying - and I think your motivation and willpower are so great. In all truth you realy are doing absolutly great - it's just that I can't say I agree completely with 'what' you are doing so grand with. I'm sorry - Ang > > Hi all, > > > > Well, I just finished my dinner so I thought I would tell everyone > > what I had to eat today. > > > > Breakfast (About 10 am) > > > > 1-1/4 cup of Raisin bran with non-fat milk. Guest guest
Hi Ang, I am just in from my work out at the gym. I have been going kind of late in the evening. I belong to a 24 Hour Nautilus so I can actually work out at all hours if I wanted. I was kind of tired tonight and made it only about a 35-40 minutes workout tonight. At least I did something. Regarding my calorie intake. I just want to say that I thought if you had about 1,200 calories a day you are dieting. I guess I am kind of new to this I guess. In the past I just use to cut my calories and excersize and I never had problems losing the wieght. For some reason my will power seems to be pretty good lately and I honestly have not had a huge appetite. Not sure what that is all about. Sure, I can put another 500 calories in my diet if I find it necessary.. but I have also seen other post say either cut back on calories or work out more. So.. I really am trying to get this straight. Thanks for your input though. One thing that does not add up then.. what about if you don't excersize that much and just lower your calorie intake? Shouldn't that be the same thing? Maybe I just need to familarize myself more with all this. Tonight I found a scale at the gym. That scale is 5 lbs less than the one at my home. I think the one at the gym is correct. Tomorrow is another day. It is late for me here now. Goodnite. Guest guest
Dianne, I know it is a hard concept to get but you really need to eat to lose weight. as others have said it keeps your metabolism up. Think about it this way, a car needs fuel, food is fuel. When you don't get enough your body goes into defense mode, the metabolism is the first to go because the body is holding to all it can. it says hmmm I don't know when I'm going to get fuel next so I better hold preserve my fuel. I looked at what you ate that day. where is lunch? The snack is good but move that to about 10-11:00 if you can and have maybe half a sandwich and some baby carrots or cottage cheese and some fruit or something like that for lunch. Guest guest
Dianne, I would say 35 - 40 min is excellent! People definitely lose weight on just lower cals but it is harder, takes longer. Unfortunately as we age our metabolism gets slower so it gets harder. the basics are make sure you are getting enough water, eating atleast 4 times a day, especially breakfast and exercising enough to raise your heart rate and metabolism ( atleast 20 min) atleast 4 times a week. Keep in mind that you should not lose any more than 2 lb a week. Much more than that you are losing muscle not fat. So don't be disappointed if the results are slow. Slow in weight loss is good! It means you are doing things right and is more likely to stay off. your attitude and enthusiasm are wonderful. You can do this! How much do you want to lose anyway, if you don't mind? Mind you, i was 284 and am only 5'3 " so you probably aren't as bad as I was! Even if you are, i have lost 84 lbs in 2 years. If I can do it, anybody can!!! Really!
