I believe you are looking for air cisternogram and the doc just ran the

words together. In Stedman's Radiology Book, there is gas cisternography

and air cisternogram would be an acceptable alternative name for this

test. A cistern is a reservior or cavity. These studies are rarely if

ever done any more because CT scans are easier. When I was in

radiography school in the early 80's I remember the techs talking about

this study where air or contast is introduced into the sinuses which

communicate with ears through the eustachian tubes. It was a way to see

if there is blockage or growths in these areas. This seems to fit with

the history of an acoustic neuroma.
