Guest guest
I believe you are looking for air cisternogram and the doc just ran the words together. In Stedman's Radiology Book, there is gas cisternography and air cisternogram would be an acceptable alternative name for this test. A cistern is a reservior or cavity. These studies are rarely if ever done any more because CT scans are easier. When I was in radiography school in the early 80's I remember the techs talking about this study where air or contast is introduced into the sinuses which communicate with ears through the eustachian tubes. It was a way to see if there is blockage or growths in these areas. This seems to fit with the history of an acoustic neuroma.
