Guest guest
Dinner was great. It hard on MWF right now to get that mid morning snack in. As I have college classes during that time. But today I had celery sticks with a little of carb option peanut butter in them and 4oz skim milk. Re: Day 1 almost over on 4/26/04 4:02 PM, at brianandjen@... wrote:> Well today is day 1. Guest guest
... Just a little note... watch the Carb Option peanut butter. I believe someone else asked about it a while ago, and discovered it had trans-fats in it. Just check the ingredients. If there is hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils in the ingredients, then it is full of bad fat. Most of the time, unless the peanut butter is the natural kind (check the ingredients to make sure only ingredient is peanuts,salt)... it is something to avoid. Have you tried the natural peanut butter? It is *great*. I like Smucker's the best. And, this is coming from somebody who was a hands-down, die-hard, Jif peanut butter fan before starting SBD. I said I would NEVER give up my Jif. No way, no how. But, then I did Phase 1 for a few days, and tasted the natural peanut butter. And, it was like heaven! ) I get upset with all the 'low carb' and 'carb options' stuff out there. Much of it can be deceiving. While it might not have as many carbs, some products are still loaded with TONS of nasty fats. I espeically find that true with a lot of the 'carb friendly' ice creams. I have started reading every ingredient to check for the added sugar and transfats! And, since SBD is not low-carb... I usually avoid the 'carb smart', etc., stuff altogether. BTW... I love celery with peanut butter. I have with my lunch today! Re: Day 1 almost over > Dinner was great. It hard on MWF right now to get that mid morning > snack in. Guest guest
Ditto re peanut butter. It's worth the effort to go natural and - if you're really lucky - you might find a place that does fresh grind. MMMM! Here's one of my favourite ways to use peanut butter. Just take 1 tbsp peanut butter and 1 tbsp skim milk and blend until smooth. I use it as a dip for apples and other fruits. My mother used to do this to make pear salad. Make a bed of iceberg lettuce, add pear halves or pieces and drizzle the peanut butter " dressing " over it. > ... > > Just a little note... watch the Carb Option peanut butter. Guest guest
It does say hydrogenated oils ( flaxssed and something else) But no trans fat listed on there. Sugar is less than 1g. Guest guest
The hydrogenated oils are the trans fats - just sneaky marketing. Soon transfats will have to be listed on the nutrition labels! Is it 2005? Re: Day 1 almost over> Dinner was great. It hard on MWF right now to get that mid morning > snack in. As I have college classes during that time.
