Guest guest
I saw my high risk OB on Tuesday. My cervix looks long (37mm) and closed and the baby weighs approximately 3 lbs. My doc said at this point everything they're doing is probably overkill, since things look so great. He said to not even worry about the contractions I've been having because they do not seem to be affecting my cervix. Well..... On Wednesday he called me back to tell me my fetal fibronectin test was positive. (Two previous tests came back negative). The predictive value of a positive test is not great- it's only about 30- 50% accurate. But it does indicate an increased likelihood of pre- term labor within the next few weeks. So even though everything else looks fine, I have to cut back my hours significantly at work and rest a lot more than I have been. So I will work a reduced schedule and do whatever else I am comfortable with while resting at home. I will do whatever I have to, but I am not really worried. I am fortunate that I do not have to go on full bedrest (yet!). I can still go out shopping and whatever- just have to make sure I don't overdo it and that I REST while at home. DH will be busy- tee hee. He's terrific about it, of course. I've already talked to my boss and he is very supportive (not that he has a choice, but he could have been an insensitive man about it!). I am actually somewhat relieved to have to spend less time at the office, as work has become very stressful recently and I've been wondering how I will sustain this pace until my due date. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sorry so long... Gretchen 29 weeks 1 day and hoping for AT LEAST 5 more weeks
