Guest guest
I'm glad you asked this question! We use Spectrum Canola Mayonnaise, values: 14g 12g fat 0g protein 0g carb Just last night, I was at Wild Oats looking at the different choices for Mayo. I'm wondering if the canola is the best because it's not the best oil (any thoughts on that?). There are others made with flax and soybean oil. Anyway, it was then that I noticed the honey. I can't believe I didn't notice it before. When I saw your e-mail, I pulled out a jar and called the company. They said that there's less than 1 g -- but as we know, we need more exact -- especially since we use such high quantities of it. They're checking into this for me. If I get a response back, I'll make sure to post it. Interested in everyone else's thoughts, too.--D --- rdowen@... wrote: > We have always used Hellman's but suspect it may be > causing more > frequent seizures. I got it because I noticed thought that sugar was added to the real mayo that I saw at the supermarket. The soy kind looks a little diff. but she hasn't said anything about it tasting diff. Guest guest
I used the recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cook book. 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp paprika (optional--although likes this on everything!) 1/8 tsp ground red pepper 2 egg yolks 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice 2 cups oil ( you can use any kind. the best oils for 's lipids are MCT or walnut) In a small mixer bowl combine mustard; salt; paprika; and red pepper. Add egg yolks and vinegar or lemon juice. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed till combined. With mixer running, add the oil, 1 tsp at a time, till 2 Tbs oil have been added. Add the remaining oil in a thin, steady stream. This should take about 5 minutes. Cover and store in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Makes about 2 cups. Guest guest
I used the same values as the Helmans Mayo. I know that the homemade had better values, but I wanted to be very conservative. Guest guest
Duke's Mayonnaise is what we were told to use at sHopkins. It is completely exchangeable with butter. There are no carbs.
