Hmmmmmm? Do you have the lab slip which lists the normal ranges for

your lab's method of doing tests? I think both your T3 & T4 are low.

Your TSH is right about where it should be (and that's the important one

for thyca patients as TSH should be suppressed to <0.1 to help prevent

recurrence). How long have you been on medication?

One comment (I'm not a medical professional and I'm only thinking out

loud here). It seems odd to me that you are on 25 of Cytomel and 75 of

Levoxyl. The low dose of Levoxyl is what bothers me. Cytomel's ratio is

about 4:1 of that of Levoxyl (thus your 25 of Cytomel is like 100 of

Levoxyl) which would mean that you're actually taking more T3 than T4.

That doesn't seem appropriate to me. Did your Dr. mention anything

about this to you? The combination of T3/T4 drugs is somewhat

controversial, but this ratio definitely seems out-of-whack to me.

While it looks like your TSH is pretty suppressed, it makes me wonder if

that is only based on when you blood was drawn in relation to when the

Cytomel was taken and if you could be unsupressed as the Cytomel wears

off throughout the day. How do you feel on this combination of

medicine?

If you are new to all of this, I'm sure I have confused you! Thinking

about this confuses me!

Hi Rhonda,

Although your TSH is close to suppression your symptoms indicate that

you actually need to be in a lower number. Often the movement down

into the .10 or lower range will remove those symptoms. There are many

doctors that would say your TSH is fine at .12. But if you don't feel

well then it won't hurt you to increase your T4 to .1 and see if things

improve then have your TSH checked again in 4 weeks. All under the

care of your doctor, of course. The other numbers don't contain the lab

values so it's hard to know.

I have been on levoxyl and cytomel as well. I take .112 levoxyl and 25

cytomel with a TSH of .06.

Best wishes,

Gail
