Guest guest Posted April 17, 2006 Report Share Posted April 17, 2006 Opportunity for Women’s Health Advocate Global Campaign for Microbicides Applications are invited for the position of Program Manager for Advocacy based at Delhi for the Global Campaign for Microbicides Program in India. This is a broad-based, international effort to build support among policymakers, opinion leaders, and the general public for increased investment into microbicides and other user-controlled prevention methods. Through advocacy, policy analysis, and social science research, the Campaign works to accelerate product development, facilitate widespread access and use, and protect the needs and interests of users, especially women. The Global Campaign for Microbicides is based at PATH, an international NGO with a mission to improve the health of people around the world by advancing technologies, strengthening systems, and encouraging healthy behaviours. The Program Manager for Advocacy shall be responsible for design and implementation of advocacy strategies in India that focus on strengthening capacity and mechanisms for active engagement of civil society and NGO sector in advocacy, policy, and research issues related to microbicides, a woman-initiated method of HIV prevention currently under research. · Work in collaboration with PATH staff in India, Global Campaign staff, and other consultant(s) to contribute to implementation of complementary strategies and activities as part of an overall microbicides advocacy strategy in India · Work with the Global Campaign’s civil society partners in India to develop and strengthen national advocacy efforts, through education and outreach to various stakeholder constituencies, particularly sexual and reproductive health and rights groups. · Provide support to the India Campaign for Microbicides to develop mission, structure, and strategy · Represent civil society, activist, and community issues w within the National Working Group on Microbicides and other relevant groups · Adapt or create informational materials and training curricula for community/civil society audiences The candidate must possess Masters degree in the relevant field with 5-8 years work experience in public health, public policy, advocacy or community work. The incumbent should have demonstrated in-depth knowledge in the following areas: sexual and reproductive health and rights, advocacy and organizing, communication and training. Familiarity with HIV-related research a plus. The successful applicant will have experience working with NGOs or coalitions in India. This position requires excellent communication, public presentation and writing skills, in English and willingness to travel.
