Guest guest
De.... Maybe it matters more where is on the charts...... what percentile is her weight at now? I don't remember seeing a post where you talked about castor oil packs. Sometimes I think I don't get all the mail......... ?? Patti stomach acid causing seizures? I talked to our dietician tonight to tell her of's weight gain on the keto diet (5 pounds/3/4inches in the seven months we've been on). Sheactually didn't think this sounded alarming and didn'tthink we should alter calories. What do you allthink? Also, I mentioned the fact that when does have aseizure now, it's always between 4 and 6 a.m. Shegets out of bed, walks across the house and gets inbed with us swallowing really hard and looking off tothe right. She's usually talking during theseepisodes, which last about a minute. The very notablething is that her stomach is rumbling WILDLY -- likeno stomach grumbling you've ever heard. The dieticianexplained that at night, serotonin levels raise --that's why we don't awaken hungry -- but that thisalso increases stomach acid. She wondered if perhapsthe acidity wasn't what was causing seizures. I wasalso telling her that has never been at less thana 5 on the pH scale -- so she's always very acidic. She didn't really know what to do about this, butmentioned that I could try a little club soda, if shecomes in our room before a seizure starts. She'stypically very groggy, just waking up, so I honestlydon't know if I could get her to drink anything. Anyone have any thoughts -- either on this theory orabout what I can do about it (besides the castor oilpacks I posted about the other day. . .never heardback from anyone. . .perhaps you all think I'm off thedeep end now!).--D=====DeEtte -- Mom to (, 6, keto-kid since 1/01, med-free, seizures greatly reduced) and (, 4), sdale, AZ"I know God would never give me more than I can handle. . .I just wish he didn't trust me so much."__________________________________________________
Guest guest
Good question. . .I don't know where she's falling on the charts. She's always been at about the 5-10th percentile. . . but she's seeming more " average " size to me now. Anyone know where I can access a growth chart to chart her myself? Castor oil packs. . . we had 's check-up the other day. Me and the girls go to a holistic MD -- she's the closest I've ever found to someone who truly merges conventional and alternative medicine. Anyway, her mother actually founded holistic medicine -- her Mom's name is Dr. Gladys McGrary, who's written several books. My doctor's brother has epilepsy and they actually had two other people -- a good family friend and a neice -- who had seizures and also lived with their family at various times. Dr. McGrary treated all of them -- successfully -- using castor oil packs and passionflower extract. Her son, my doctor's brother, has never been on seizure meds. He's now a minister and still has seizures -- but about once every 10 years. Anyway, when I mentioned the stomach rumbling to her, she thought it might be worth a try because this is what's recommended when you look up " abdominal epilepsy " at www. meridianinstitute.com. That's how they've been treating seizures, too. They believe that there is an abdominal brain -- and that there are abdominal seizures -- which sounds very much like what has. It's kind of a " wacky " -- :-) -- theory. . . but when have I ever let that stop me. Essentially, you soak cloth in castor oil, apply the cloth covered with plastic and a towel on the abdomen and apply heat -- heating pad or hot water bottle -- for about an hour, on three consecutive days/week and then massage the abdomen. This is supposed to help rid the body of toxins which are causing the abdominal seizures. There's a book written by Dr. Gladys' husband, " The Oil That Heals " that talks about all kinds of applications for castor oil. . .haven't read it yet, but I plan to get a copy. Wacky enough for you?--D --- Patti wrote: > De.... > Maybe it matters more where is on the > charts...... what percentile is her weight at now? Guest guest
DeEtte, I was also surprised that Rohan had gained over 2lb in less than a month inspite of a recent calorie-cut. He also had a sleep sz this morning at 5am. First he called out then had a GM type sz with eyes wide open, made swallowing movements at the end and said something again. I noticed that his stomach was rumbling, as I'd done before with some sleep sz. His usual sleep-sz are 1-2 hrs after going to bed at night. I'd be very interested to see what further suggestions your dietician might have. Unfortunately we don't have one and his dr. is not helpful with this sort of thing. BTW I haven't seen your post about castor oil. Maybe I'm not getting all the posts. Guest guest
I suppose anything's possible -- but she also complains that her tummy hurts. I really do think it's something abdominal and think that the abdominal epilepsy description I read at the Meridian Institute's web site is the closest description I've ever read to what she seem to be going through. It also starts before the seizure begins, so I don't think it's her swallowing air since it's before she starts swallowing hard -- but who knows!--D --- myketokid@... wrote: > De, > I don't have any suggestions, but was wondering if > the stomach rumbling > could be swallowed air.
