Guest guest
Welcome back, Jewel!!!! It's a b***ch to figure all of this out, with our bodies all so different it's hard to come up with one pat answer, but you stuck to it and did your research, asked questions and didnt' give up!!!! Never, never be afraid to ask. With all the great people here someone has most likely been through the same thing...... They'll be able to let you know what they tried and how it all turned out.... Half the battle is in the knowing you are not alone.... The other half is hanging in long enough for you body to be able to start fixing things.... I believe that your itching is a sign that your body is working hard, like mine, and then you're on the road.... I'm so happy for you..... Can't wait until you get going on a new book by the way!!!! Hey guys... you have to check out this lady's books... She has three of them published and for sale... I've read them and they are fantastic!!!!! Guest guest
JEWEL!!! I am SO SO excited for you!! What a wonderful post. I'm glad you brought up the red palms. You are such a hope for others who struggle, because you have certainly struggled......and are winning the fight!! BTW, when you say Cortisol, which brand/kind?? How much?? Janie >>I have been able to get to 60 mgs of Armour in 3 divided > doses(due to no thyroid fuction this works for me) within a month. > And then a couple of days ago was able to up to 90 mgs. I wonder why nobody else has ever brought up the red palms and finger pads when they start Armour and have a problem with taking even a small dose? Unless it's just me on this list? Anyway, I found the answer, corrected it, and will win this fight yet:} It has been a struggle and I still have a ways to go yet. I'm waiting on an order of cortef from Masters marketing, but have been taking between 2- 5 mgs of predisone I already have on hand because of dh flareups of RA. Started out at 2mgs. Now at 5mgs. 5mgs of predisone equals 20 mgs of cortef. I really don't like taking steriods, but if not, I couldn't have started back on Armour. Soon as cortef comes in, I'll start on that and hopefully will be able to move on to a natural support in time. It works for me and that is all I know:}At least I can take Armour now without feeling like my heart is going to beat out of my chest! I do hope this helps someone who may find they have the same problem taking armour and develop the red palms and fingers. Guest guest
Hey , do you remember about where you found this red palm thing because I have red palms? Missing In action(sorry long) Hi all just an update to let you know that after my first disaster with Armour a few months ago. I started back on the dreaded t4 and felt like hell and wanted to just give up, sunk into depression, thinking there was no hope left. Then I struggled up somehow and decided I would try and find a way I could take Armour no matter what a doctor who had no proof... no tests, said about my heart. I started reading all the posts from the very beginning of this group, wow! a lot of reading. But in doing so I found a link that convinced me that a couple of you who were pushing adrenal meds were right! The tip-off: my hands(palms and fingers were very red while on Armour. I had no idea this was a link to adrenals needing help, first time I had ever seen this mentioned! The other symptoms always mentioned were so mixed they could have been from hypo...except for the hands. I had never read anywhere that while on Armour anybody had developed red palms and finger pads. I thought it was an over load from armour causing it. Okay, so I started taking cortisone 5 mgs a day and since I still had a bottle of some 1/4 grain chips of armour left. Not a lot but enough to experiment with. I started taking them, with the help of the cortisone, I have been able to get to 60 mgs of Armour in 3 divided doses(due to no thyroid fuction this works for me) within a month. And then a couple of days ago was able to up to 90 mgs. I knew I needed that big of a boost and it has helped even more! So far no palps... over stimulation or any of the problems I had before. I started taking my temp to see what was happening and even with going to 90mg. I'm still not optimal yet. but will remain at this doseage for awhile, so my body can adjust. I'm getting there, my friends. My palms are losing the redness. And except for the itches from dry skin I have been having to scrub off my body... not to mention being very careful, because I keep overdoing it, because I feel so much better! I feel like even though I may have a while yet to get to where I need to and get my body and mind back... I NOW HAVE HOPE!!!!(sorry for shouting:)You can't beleive... no... I take that back, I know you know how exciting it is to know you are going to get your life back. The hard part is allowing the healing not to be hampered, by to much actitivy, but still do enough to jump start the body and mind again. I had to hurry and order a bottle of Armour from England and I am a little worried I will run out before it gets here, but hoping I won't because that would suck big time. They mailed it on the 15, so I am on pins and needles worrying if I have enough. Lol...a month ago I was selling off the three bottles I had and now I'm hoping I get another bottle in before what I have runs out:]What irony! I plan to order extra bottles if I have to order a bottle a week so I have plenty as budget allows:]I hate the price but with no insurance and no doctor that would prescibe it anyway. Well you do what you have to do. I still am reading through the back log!!! you people write a lot..lol, and still healing. I can't begin to tell all of you how happy I am at the thought of possibly being well enough to go to my daughter's wedding in the spring in Fla. I haven't been out of the state in years! I want to thank you Janie for this list and the ones on here who kept insisting about adrenals and iron levels. The right supplements( what a wealth of information)(You know who you are:} If not for that one link about the hands... I would never had tried Armour again. I shudder when I think about how I just gave up. Also Topper, if not for you and your e-mail to my questions the other day when I freaked out thinking the itching was from being allegic to armour, afraid once again, I was going to have to go back into that dark hole again. I don't know what I would have done... Sorry for the long post... being a writer, just can't help it..lol. Just wanted to update and let all of you know:] Take care Jewel Dartt http://www.geocities.com/jkdartt/

I can't find the reference!Sorry Jamy, I thought I had saved it but I couldn't find it anywhere. But trust me, even though it's rarely mentioned it is a sign of adrenal insufficincy. I just wish I could find it again. Maybe somebody else knows about this little known symptom. Mine only becomes red when I'm taking Armour(decreased a lot since taking 5mg of predisone a day.) When I'm on just t4 I don't have the red hands. I'm assuming since I con't convert the plain t4, I don't get enough t3 to over stress the adrenals, thus no red hands showing the taking of my adrenals. I think mine is not severe, but severe enough to prevent me from taking Armour, except in very tiny doses that caused very hyper-like symptoms including a pounding heart rate. Now I can take 90 mgs without all those horrible symptoms, and I'm getting better. Of course this may not be true for everybody. I have been post graves rai for almost 13 years (no thyroid fuction) with terrible stressors during that time. It would make sense that my adrenals would be out of whack. So for me it is working:} I don't want anyone thinking I'm trying to play doctor. But I have no choice but to be my own doctor.:} Take Care > > Jewel Dartt > http://www.geocities.com/jkdartt/ > > > > > >
