He suspected I'm not type 1, and plan to change the insulin with

meds, or just diet and exercise (I will be very happy if I can make

it)

Wish me luck

Judith,

I do wish you luck :-) Hope it works out that you can control it with

diet and exercise.

I saw my Doc yesterday. He put me on Ultracet to try since that study says it can help fibromyalgia pain. I took my second dose this AM--Can't tell if it's helping because I'm in alot of pain, under alot of stress and the weather is damp and rainy--all that said I think it may be helping a little.

He also doubled my Neurontin dose--to 600 mg three times a day. He didn't want to make any additional changes because he knows I'll be seeing the Rheumy in Dec. Of course if I need to see him for some changes between now and then I can.

Robyn--I just now printed out your meds and am about to sit down with the books and check them out, so it should be shortly that I get a reply to you.

Kathy, good luck on the Ultracet. It's been raining and dreary here off and on all month. We've had almost 9" of rain this month. Our normal is 4". Hope the neurontin uppage works too.

Kathy, when I was in CA, I think I told you that my rheumy had me up to 3600 mg. and I couldn't tell that I was feeling any better with it. I really never knew what it was supposed to do for me. I gained about 50 lbs while on it so since there was no noticeable reduction in pain and the weight just kept going up, we stopped it. Now the doc here has me on 300 mg....I forgot to tell the pain doctor that I was even taking it so I will be interested to see what he says about it. Let me know how the Ultracet does for you.

I am supposed to be cutting out the Depakote which I was taking for the headaches and also the Percocet/oxycodone. Instead I am to use Actiq lollypops (every 8 hours). I can tell that the Actiq is doing anything. I'll just have to see. I guess we just need to keep trying out different meds until we find what works for us. Hope you get some relief soon.

Thanks, Jane. I'm hoping the increase in Neurontin makes a difference. I haven't had a problem with weight gain from it. When I was on the nortryptyline I did, though. Yesterday the Ultracet helped, hoping it continues to, although I'm only to use it for 5 day periods.

I was thinking that the lollipops were only if you had breakthrough pain? Aren't you on the Duragesic patches? If you have to use the lollipops regularly you probably need your patch dose increased--at least that's how it was with my cancer patient's that were on the two.

Yeah--these PITA diseases definitely require alot of med trials.

I've been on on the Duragesic 50's, 75's, and now I'm on the 100's. I still am getting breakthrough pain...and I can't see any change in the pain when I do use a lollypop.

Yikes! Maybe a different med is needed? I know the lollipop is new, but if it isn't working it isn't working.

It really isn't working! My increased pain in my hands and back from

the arthritis is probably also due to the pain specialist taking me

off the Bextra last week. I was awoke twice during the night to

change or add Lidoderm patches and ice packs. I see the new

rheumatologist tomorrow morning so maybe he will have new suggestions.

I'm assuming you're talking to me. I think the pain doc is trying to see just what is really affecting my aches and pains. I was in to see the opthamologist today and my fingers were wrapped in Lidoderm patches and he looked at my meds and ask what is going on. I told him about starting witht he pain mgt. doc. He said to call him and tell him that being off Bextra is just not working...it was obviously doing me some good because the pain level has increased so much in the week that I've been off it. I have an appt. with the new rheumatologist so I will ask him first and then call the pain doc.
