You lay on your stomach, they injected the dye in the middle of the back and tilted the table down towards your head. They watch the dye travel....BUT they also have to raise the head becuase they said the dye cannot go into the brain. I had two technicians pushing my head back wards ... It was so painful. I hope they changed the test KAthy in NJ ACM undiagnosed, Spinal Stenosis C2-C7, Laminoplasty, Hip replacement...yada yada yada... -------------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through BlastNet - http://www.blast.net
Guest guest
Diane, This was extremely interesting to me. I have even wondered previously why they can't develope an MRI for people in general to have while sitting up. I know I feel as if I am being choked when lying flat on my back, and I know other - especially older people also have trouble lying flat on their backs. Anyway, I will file this away with my other " want to remember " email. Thank you, Debbie Diane Cavaness wrote: > Dear Listmates: > > Last week was a roller coaster week for us. > Dr. Burchiel has decided to do the surgery for , > and we learned some interesting new information in > the process that might prove helpful to someone. > > Her MRI showed a definite herniation of 7-9 mm, > and her symptoms were classic Chiari symptoms. > However, the CINE MRI showed no flow obstruction. > Dr. Burchiel believed that unless there was pressure > buildup around the brain from blocked spinal fluid, > surgery would not help. > > He decided to consult with a colleague and get back to us. > Much to his credit, Dr. Burchiel had an extensive > conversation with Dr. Carmel in New Jersey and learned > that the fluid blockage and resulting buildup of pressure > often happens in an UPRIGHT position, not lying down as > MRIs must currently be done. > > Until it becomes possible to do a verticle MRI, certain > symptoms point to the blockage of CSF when the patient > is standing and moving around. Guest guest
Laurie, I have not been online all day, so I suppose you have received a zillion answers to your question. I will answer it also (are you wishing you hadn't asked it yet?! HaHa!) You are intitled to any and all medical information about or having to do with you. Medical professionals will try to make you think this isn't so but it most definately is. I have never understood why they always want to hide our medical records from us. Are they covering for something they messed up? Are they afraid we will see the time that they wrote on our charts that we were " off our rockers " ? I have always felt suspicious when they don't want me to see my medical records. Anyway, back to the point - your question about your MRI report. They do not volunteer information. So they make you have to ask for each item. I would think it would be common sense that if I wanted copies of my MRIs, then I also want a copy of the report that is part of it! It doesn't work that way. When you ask for copies of any type of radiological films, you must also request a copy of the report that was made along with them. You can still go back to where you got copies of your MRIs and ask for a copy of the report that went with them - they will still have it. Good Luck, Debbie Laurie wrote: > I know this is kinda off the subject but, I have copies of my last MRI but > there is no report and I dont know what they mean, Is there a way to get a > written report of what they show?
