Guest guest
Hi all, Been working on some new things with Jake this past month. We've basically cut out sunscreens, bug sprays, nitrates and aspartame. He had a bad reaction to sunscreen which got me thinking about what other sensitivities he might have ....environmental, chemical, preservatives, etc. Anyway, since doing this he had "only" 15 tonic clonic seizures in July, down from his usual 25-30. Good news. We had a long visit with his neuros yesterday, and we have decided to go with an organic/natural diet as much as possible to see if it helps. We've also decided to try eliminating certain things to see what happens. First thing we're going to eliminate is eggs. Jake eats an omlette every morning for breakfast. I'm searching for ideas on what else to feed him for breakfast. His other meals are basically chicken/salmon, with veggies, cheese, cream and oil. I could do one of those but I'm looking for something different. I've just bought Sheltons brand Turkey breakfast sausage....all natural, thought I would try those w/ some peanut butter or something like that. Any other creative moms out there? Anyone used the Sheltons turkey sausage? Thanks - Barb Swoyer, Jake's mom
Guest guest
's yogurt meal would work for breakfast - unless you are dairy free?? Anyway you stir together sour cream, oil, vanilla, sweetner and fruit (peaches work well), stir and stir and stir, refrigerate for about half an hour (you could always make it the night before and restir the next morning, the oil will separate), cheese on the side for protien. loves it and if you stir enough, the consistency is like yogurt. Also, if you are eliminating nitrates, does that eliminate ham?? If not, how about ham, cheese and fruit with the fat in cream and oil whipped and flavoured and sweetned for ice cream. swoyer wrote: Hi all,Been working on some new things with Jake this past month. Guest guest
I've used the Sheltons. I think there's a meal plan in the Keto diet book that has butter, applesauce, sausage and cream. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I also have a good snack recipe that I sometimes use for breakfast when we're travelling. I use Brown Cow Whole Milk with Cream on Top yogurt (plain), mixed with some whipped cream (could also add oils, but I haven't started using much yet) and strawberries. Serve it with smoked salmon -- you can find some brands with very low carbs. I found ours at Einsteins Bagels and at Trader Joes -- don't know if they have those on the east coast. --- " m.coole " wrote: > 's yogurt meal would work for breakfast - > unless you are dairy > free?? > Anyway you stir together sour cream, oil, vanilla, > sweetner and fruit > (peaches work well), stir and stir and stir, > refrigerate for about half > an hour (you could always make it the night before > and restir the next > morning, the oil will separate), cheese on the side > for protien. > loves it and if you stir enough, the consistency is > like yogurt. > Also, if you are eliminating nitrates, does that > eliminate ham?? Guest guest
Hm, yes, good point. I just picked eggs because it seemed like a simple thing to eliminate and check. I don't think he gets any wheat.....but dairy, that's another ballgame. He gets a little bit of cream 8g, and a bit of cheese w/ every meal. I need to figure out some dairy free menus that I think he'll eat..... BTW, we're back to eggs....he's back to seizing....has been having 2 grand mals a morning for a few days now....is behaviorally a nightmare.....ugh... So much for my theory, but not ready to give up yet! Barb Swoyer and Jake Re: Breakfast meals for Jake?
