Hello Thyca friends: I need some advise desperately.

I had TT on 7/17 and have had couple other complications the week

after (sinus/Bronchial Infections the second week of surgery). I

still feel like I have a ball/lump stuck in the back of my throat.

Is this normal? I keep reading how many of you recovered from

surgery fairly rapidly. I am finding my incision is still tender and

sore. There is lot of tightness surrounding the incision. My voice

is still very weak and low. Am I experiencing unusally severe

symptoms or am abnormal?

I had been told I would need 3 wks of recovery. Therefore, I need to

start work on Monday. ly, I just do not feel ready!

I see my endo tommorrow. He has not explained very well to me what

comes next. All I know is that I go off levoxyl Monday and start

cytomel for 4 wks and nothing for last two. I keep reading the posts

about how tiring it can get. How do I plan for that? Do I ask my

endo to approve disability for 8 more weeks? I am so confused not

knowing what to expect.

Lastly, how long after taking the levoxyl can you eat. I have been

waiting about 30 mins. Is that long enough?

Thanks for your help and support.

It may be normal for the type and extent of surgery that you've had.

If you continue to feel uncomfortable and do not notice an improvement,

do mention this to your endo or surgeon (if you are still seeing

him/her).

While we all have the same general type of surgery, some are more

extensive than others. Remember your mileage may vary (YYMV).

The scar sensitivity is a common problem. If your scar continues

to be tight (swelling), red, itchy, do mention this to your doctor.

My scar looked neon red at 9 days post surgery and my surgeon

prescribed a corticosteroid ointment (Celestoderm V in Canada). I

noticed a real improvement in about 3-4 days after using it.

The reduction in voice is also very common. Some folks do need

more recovery time. Your cold etc is probably not helping the

situation.

Tell your endo this.

You are going to need to listen to your body and then make the

commitments accordingly . I know that 's not a firm answer - but

we all handle going hypo differently. Is there a way for you to

have more flexible hours at work so that if you are tired, you can

adjust your schedule?

I believe the standard is 1 hour before eating. So you need to

wait just a bit longer.

You will feel better - it is just going to take a bit more time!
