Hi all,

Sometimes we wonder about different diets, etc. Years ago I wrote an

article on the Portfolio Diet, which interestingly enough, has continued

to draw people to me. Although I no longer see people for nutrition

counseling, I still help them in this area when contacted.

I just wanted to share this email from a lady who had also contacted me

about some details with the diet. Just goes to show you that people CAN

take control of their health! (Now, WE know this, but I know we struggle

with others 'knowing' it.)

Hello Marjorie: Approx. 4 mos. ago I wrote to you inquiring re:

Portfolio Diet " Study " by .....You asked me to let you

know re the outcome of my results.

I saw my family Dr. today and she was very pleased my Cholesterol

levels were down and in the ranges of my age being 65 yrs. old.

Dec. 01, 2009 my lab results were: Cholesterol (total) 8.19 H

Triglyceride 1.75 H

HDL

(good) 1.41

LDL

(BAD) 5.98

CHOL/HDL RATIO

5.80 (B)

My Dr. suggested I try Portfolio Diet, for 3 mos. as

I do not like to take pills. And so I did, and here were my lab.

results:

April l6, 2010 my lab results were: Cholesterol (total) 7.09

Triglyceride 1.16

HDL

(GOOD) 1.49

LDL (BAD) 5.1

CHOL/HDL RATIO 4.7

I followed the Portfolio Study to the " T " , except I ate chicken

breast and fish ( being Haddock and wild salmon (either canned or

fresh) once a week.....Never farmed fish. Metamucil 2 times a day,

and only missed porridge and yogurt " once " in four months. I

ate lentals and mixed beans with an olive oil/balsamic vinegar and

half tsp. sugar 3 times a week. No Meat, and No Dairy incl.

cheese/cottage cheese. Also fresh salads (ate Arugula) not so much

lettuce.

I had soya products, soya milk, soya cheese (I loved the jalapeno

soya cheese). At the SuperStore they have the best selection of "

Yves " soya products which include protein ground round/curry

products, burgers/veggie/chicken (teryaki) which all tastes great.

And lost 10 lbs.(I weigh l40 which isnt bad for my age.)

Drank 6 glasses of water a day ( which I always have)....No Sugar/No

refined flour/No diet pops or soda drinks/ No Alcohol.

Exercised 3 times a week and walked 5 times a week. (I have hiked

and walked for the past 30 yrs. anyway).... will continue my

cycling now, as weather is improving.

My Dr. gave me a requistion to have my cholesteral checked in 4 mos.

from now.....This is a Life style now....and am thoroughly excited

about continuing the process.

Thank you also Marjorie, for you encouragement, the past few

months. I will be in Vancouver visiting my friend from Germany in

May, If you wish any more info please call me...or email .....Thank

you....
