Guest guest
Hi Friends, I just spoke with Dar. Her surgery went well last night. There was some infection under the plate. She had reabsorbed all of the cadaver chips that were put in for her fusion, and it caused some granulated tissue that infected with time. Dr. Milhorat removed the plate, and all tissue that was causing problems. She is to be on 3 weeks of IV antibiotics and 3 weeks of oral antibiotics. She hopes that she can have her fusion and transoral surgery in six weeks. She thinks Dr. Milhorat will talk to her about that later today. The plate had nothing to do with this infection. I have had my plate for almost one year, and it isn't causing any problems. Many people have plates because of a brain surgery for many years. I was hesitant to call Darlene because I know she needs her rest. She was able to talk for a short time, but having two surgeries in 4 days has warn her out. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. I am limping by with my computer. Netscape seems to be giving me lots of problems. I try to answer as many posts as I can when it lets me. I am computer illiterate, and just letting the boys and Jeff help me get through this glitch. Kathleen
