I just got a call from my daughter-in-law. They have been accepted to adopt an 8

yr old girl and a 7 year old boy! We are SO excited. These will make us having

13 grandkids.

Thank you Lynnie for your comments on both issues.

I will be going with Connie and this am for his counseling-she

doesn't feel able to do even this simple thing and that is OK this morning

as I told her I have a list and want to make sure each thing gets tended to.

Am searching the net for Zoloft and young children for information.

Am excited with Lori Downs news last night on the mito find and will try

searching that out today too if I have time and energy. The family Dr. we

had does not feel capable dealing with 's attempted suicide and wants

him to see a pediatric psychiatrist but I don't want him to switch from

-they have hit it off and she knows the background and I can keep her

informed too.

I can't wait to see my new grandkids but the kids won't see them until they

fly to Chicago the 21st and then it'll be 3-4 wks until the kids fly here

for good. Hoping for photos soon.

Merril,

is only 4.

I see on the web that Pfiefer (or however they spell their company name),

the people who make the Zoloft have done trials on kids 6-17 and generally

start at 25mg and work up to 200mg per day.

I know from past experience and an ADHD specialist that many times only a

tiny amt. of a drug will work wonders for people with ADHD (I feel a mito

disorder). Therefore since I can't find any further infor. and everywhere I

call can't help us I will suggest to the therapist who will suggest to the

Dr. they start him on 12 1/2 mg per day of Zoloft and see how it goes. His

mom was taking Zoloft for depression when she was nursing him and he seemed

to do fine.

My husband was given Dexidrine yest. for ADHD. I am jealous he will have

something to help him. Dexidrine was the only drug which REALLY helped my

ADHD but everytime I would develop a sinus and eye infections after about a

week. I need to decide on some sort of anti-depressant for myself as the

Ritalin alone is driving me nuts with the see-saw effect and it does NOT

help me slow down or focus, just takes me from a whirlwind effect into a

race car effect by clearing my mind and allowing me the consistent energy to

race ahead to do the million things that come into my mind all at once. I'm

either frustrated, confused and depressed or I'm burning out. I've tried so

many drugs but none of them seem to be just right. (And diets, self-helps,

etc. etc.)

I would appreciate ANY help or suggestions from anyone with (or

anything else). S.

New to the Mito list, so not sure how to respond....hope this is right.

Read with interest the 5/6 note from .

Being new, I am not sure of 's situation, but wanted to respond to

the adopted grandchiledren issue to say " CONGRATULATIONS!!! "

We have two sort-of-adopted grandchildren who are very special to us.

I am a 56 year old female diagnosed with a mitochobdrial disorder in my

late 20's. Currently awaiting the final results of a biopsy done on

April 6. The mitochondrial disease has already been confirned.

I work with teenagers and know several who are on Zoloft. Would be glad

topass on what I know if it would be helpful. In any event, I wish

, Connie and my best. How old is ???
