My son Jon does not tolerate DMSA on any dose or schedule. I have no idea

why. I have also tried a few brands (VRP included), corn free, along with

a compounded version from a reputable pharmacy(Hopewell in NJ).

Jon would get extremely loose stools and regressed with each round of DMSA.

Jon does well and progresses on a low dose of ALA (10-25mg) every 3 for 3/11

or 3/4. He is now 72 lbs. at 8 years old. I could probably increase the

dosage and may in the future but do not at this point want to flare the

yeast up too much. He usually has a tired day or two after a round with a

slight yeast flare up and then small gains of language and social skills.

He showed high in lead on his last test and I'm concerned with this but I

know something in the DMSA just wasn't right for him.

When I first started him on ALA he seemed " off " while on ALA and better

coming off of it.

As time progressed he seems now to do better " on " and by the 4th or 5th day

off seems to start slipping a little (maybe some redistribution).

At this low rate I think we'll be at it for a long time ... he seems to be

in consistant remission and I'm grateful for this. The only thing he gave

me a hard time with this month is getting his nails cut....another challange

set before me.

also, adding " lots " of probiotics during chelation and off helps a bunch

with the yeast flare ups.

<<<Anyone using ALA on children alone please comment on your

experiences, hopefully to ease my mind.>>>

Hopes this helps Dianna
