Guest guest
Help! My son Connor has been on the diet and seizure free for 7 months. 1 month ago he started having seizures again. He is having about 3-10 small myoclonic jerks a day. The only changes have been weaning off of the Depakote (2 months ago we finished) and at the same time we quit taking Carnitine. Here is what we have tried so far to get the seizures back under control. Upped the phenobarb level (4 weeks ago. Connor was no longer at a theraputic level) We changed to a 4.5:1 ratio (2 weeks now). We are watching all fluid intake, eliminated his pop allotment. We spent 30 hours in the hospital fasting this week. It didn't help at all. Now the Dr. has put Connor back on Depakote (4 days now and no difference). Connor's keytones are 80-160 in the morn, 40-80 in the afternoon, and 80-160 in the evening. His betahydroxy level has slipped from a 6 to 4.8 over the last 3 months. I would love help. Do you think too much processed meat and saturated fat can pull kids out of ketosis? --
