Guest guest
Hi, Isabelle, If you're like me, in order to come out of this you'd need to veg out on the sofa and be as calm as possible for hours and hours, and maybe take extra meds. With having to do the tenant work, and the upset about the car, I wouldn't have a chance to reverting to sinus. In fact, the car-type upset could put me into arrhythmia. Hopefully you can do some vegging out before you see the doc, which seems to be shortly. I don't know what to say about your bp, as my bp machine gives up when I am in afib and I can't get a reading, so I don't know what is " normal. " Hopefully you have discussed what you should do with the nurse at the cardio's office, and she has told you if you need to go to the er earier than your doc's appointment. Thinking good thoughts, Trudy
Guest guest
My BP goes all over the place when I am in AF. My GP said that this is normal with AF. Infact he said the one way to tell without ECG if you are in AF is to do blood pressure. He says that each beat in AF has a different blood pressure. Are you sure you are not in AF? Guest guest
Hi Frances: Thanks for your support and your insight. Sure enough I am in afib according to my Cardiologist...He is not hospitalizing me but suggested I take Paxil until ? He did address many of my questions. I am nervous and anxious(actually I am a nervous wreck) and I do overeact to just about anything like stress, anger any emotion and exertion. Maybe I should stay in bed until Wed. at 1 PM when I am scheduled to see him again, but he says that I should work it would be better for my heart. What do you think? . > My BP goes all over the place when I am in AF. My GP said that this is > normal with AF. Guest guest
-Hi Trudy: Thanks for your reply....I like what you are suggesting and appreciate your support very much. Yes I am in afib according to my Card. Please also see my reply to Frances, I can't seem to repeat it to you. It depends on what kind of afib you have. If it is adrenergic, working will make it worse. If it's vagal, your doc is likely right. Paxil takes a while to kick in. I prefer passion flower, which I get at the health food store. I take 1/2 a capsule a day just when I think I need it. It is an anti-anxiety and anti-depressent med. Guest guest
<< Maybe I should stay in bed until Wed.>> Hi Isabel, we are all different but one of the things I've discovered is that it's very unlikely for me to come out of AF in the first 18 hours or so. I usually rest up in bed at this time. After this point - if my heart is going slow enough (between 100-120 bpm) it's worth my while getting up and either walking up and down the stairs a few times or making myself a large meal. If my heart starts racing (170+) I might abort the attempt for an hour or so but sometimes moving around or eating will pop me back into NSR. Finding your own limits and boundaries is half the battle - some people manage to play tennis whilst in AF so my story does not fit everyone. Guest guest
The different responses is a great help in understanding what is going on with me. I have been in SR since doc put me on sotalol a few months ago. I have been trying to get back into my exercise program. I have been gradually increasing amounts of exercise combining aerobics, running, and weight lifting. I thought I was doing pretty well and maybe I am. It's hard to know what is going on with me. The meds seem to limit my HR at about 125 which I'm becoming accustom to. I have been working with moderate weights and have just started increasing amounts and reps. With my running, I started out walking, then short slow jogs to see how it went. Saturday I jogged two miles with a 2 min walk at one mile and one and one half miles. My HR hit 129 a couple of times on hills. Going pretty slow at 13min. miles.(Previously at about 7.5min) I had been moitoring my BP and HR the first month and it started out low. BP at 100/55 and HR at 60. This gradually increased as I became accustom to meds, leveling out at 120/70 and HR staying at around 62. Saturday after my run I was feeling a little " Off " . I checked my BP and it was 90/50 - HR 52. I took a nap after lunch and had a hard time waking up. Also forgot to take my evening dose of sotalol. For the last days I've been feeling tired, a pressure behind my eyes and the back of my head and BP is up and down. I have a tired feeling that as best I can describe is like muscle fatigue. Does this sound like the beginning of Afib?

No one thought of telling me this originally. I have two ways to tell from my pulse if I'm in afib, and my cardio says this is about right: 1st is just chaos, and the 2nd is if I am feeling pauses, I may or may not be in afib - the way to tell is to count along with the beats and count thru the pauses and if your count coincides with a beat after the pause, it is likely normal with perhaps frequent extra beats (which feel like pauses, long explanation omitted.) If your count doesn't coincide with the beat after the pause, it may be afib. Of course, you should do this several times. to be sure. I am wondering if your unusual variation in bp does mean afib or intermittent afib. I do find a strange tiredness can be the precusor to afib for me, so when I notice that now, I really veg out. But, I have adrenergic afib, I am not sure what you should do, since your are quite athletic, you may have vagal afib.
Guest guest
If your AF is vagal in origin it may be better for you to keep moving about. I used to be able to stave off AF through the day by being active. There was no way I could vegetate through an attack. However night time was the worst as it would keep me awake and I couldn't be too active. The moving about seemed to balance things out. Might help you too Fran irregular pulse due to pressure and my > husb. deer/car > > accident > > > > > > > Hi: Since Friday eve. Guest guest
How do you measure your heart rate at 170. What do you use? Do you get light headed? Thanks, Ken Re: Re: irregular pulse due to pressure and my husb. deer/car accident << Maybe I should stay in bed until Wed.>> Hi Isabel, we are all different but one of the things I've discovered is that it's very unlikely for me to come out of AF in the first 18 hours or so.
