Guest guest
If you feel bad maybe you should consider a Myomectomy so you can have your Hrt after it and feel better. i don't agree with your doctor about not needing the uterus and ovaries and with myomectomy there is no need to have hysterectomy because of fibroids. It doesn't make any sense to me to cut organs because they are not used for what doctors and society think they are only used for. what about cutting off my breasts, I am not having any more kids and I am not going to lactate any more. Are breasts different than uteri and ovaries? why? because they are outside, they look good, feel good and men like them? I am sure even after menopause our uteri and ovaries have a function,I don't know much about it but I know they are important for me and they MUST stay in my body(except for cancer). Do what you have to do, think it over and make your decision based on what you want, not what they say you must have done. It is your body not theirs and ONLY YOU can say cut or keep. If we find a tumor we cut the tumor not the organ, imaging if they did that for brain tumors. Breathe and relax, you have options and don't let any doctor play god with you body, it is yours and only yours. Relax,ok? we are all in the same road and we are all here to give strength to each other. > >Reply-To: uterinefibroids >To: " INTERNET:uterinefibroids " ><uterinefibroids > >CC: Tim Lester >Subject: Digest Number 433 >Date: Tue, 24 Apr 2001 11:39:06 -0400 > >Message text written by INTERNET:uterinefibroids > >< > >I'm 51 and in menopause. Guest guest
Hi Hi Kim, I think the problem, is if Kim takes HRT she is likely to make the fibroids grow again. We all await this menopause, but then when it comes I think some of us will still find the thing is not settled. I think Kim,you should find out how many, where. You mention a pendunculated,it could be removed by laparoscopy,I think. I agree with here, and its quite passionate what you are saying .I think you need to find another doctor and get another opinion.Perhaps a very low dose HRT with a lot of monitoring,I don't know. Then again, maybe a an alternative medecine route.I know there are a lot of varying opinions within our group, but there is, I think ,something to it. So I'm with ,get another opinion and don't rush anything until you have satisfied yourself that you have gathered the facts. Guest guest
Re: HRT and Fibroids I went on HRT and after 1-2 yrs they discovered 6 cm fibroid. I continued HRT for 5 years and my fibroid reached 10cm. Last month I stopped HRT and hope it will shrink down now. Fortunately, I have never had problems from fibroid. Guest guest
I had similar symptoms which forced me to take action. I had UAE performed in Nov. 1998. It was successful at age 48. I chose it over myomectomy or hysterectomy. If it does not work, you have those other two options. However, this is a decision that you must make for youself. I also have osteopenia. I have been on Fosamax for one year. My hip bone density is now normal and my spine bone density is just slightly below normal. My gynecologist specializes in menopausal woman. She advocated UAE for me and also felt that Fosamax was the best course of treatment for my osteopenia. She feels that I am now right where I should be with reference to bone denisity and my fibroid uterus. Fosamax will not cause your fibroid to grow. I have a small fibroid remaining ( 2 cm) , but it has not grown and is not causing symptoms. My large fibroid that was reduced in size as a result of UAE continues to shrink as I am now 51and in menopause. I have treated my hot flashes with Remifemin (black cohosh)--available at vitamin shops-and Schiff brand dry vitamin E. This specific vitamin E was recommended by my gynecologist. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I just wanted to add,,that some women who have gone on for surgery post UAE have been found to have adhesion disease assumed from the UAE itself. While I do not believe that there is firm evidence of this,it has been reported and bears looking into since it MAY compromise future surgery.
