Guest guest
I have great respect for some managed care organizations, none for others. I have used Kaiser for about 10 years and had excellent experiences and outcomes, with one exception and it was my own back pain management. I wanted few drugs, more therapy, and following their protocol I got maxed out on narcotics and no therapy. I had to leave the system and pay for my own pain management care with a combo of chiropractor tx and acupuncture, and achieved an expensive but quick (comparative) relief and almost miraculous total recovery. After bed-ridden for 8 weeks stoned out of my mind and close to fecal impaction, I was able to, in 3 weeks time, get out of bed, be lucid enough to plan returning to work, manage pain with Ibuprofin 800 instead of 2 strong narcotics and more. Within another 3 weeks I was back at work. So 6 weeks total and I was recovered and off drugs. I am now with a Blue Cross/Anthem HMO group that is based at a local St Jude's hospital. I have a wonderful MD - she's a DO and I chose her bc of that -get the best and prompt care when I need it and a lot of preventive care and advise, and very few drug interventions. I won't change this HMO for anything now.
