Guest guest
Oh Fonda, I'm so sorry. You're posting it here because you know we care and we're here for you. It's a horrible pain to lose someone that was close to you for so long. Will you get another one? I would have to. Just to have someone else to hold. I can feel your pain just looking at my babies. Can you sleep on the couch or somewhere different tonight? I know what you mean about not sleeping where she slept with you. I'm so glad you had the courage to know what she needed and to be woth her and let her know she was loved for her last moments as she was all her life with you. That's the ultimate act of love that we can do for our babies when they need that release from the pain. Big gentle hugs. I'm so sad I had to put my dog to sleep today. I had had her for 14 years. She developed kidney failure and was failing fast. I am so sad, can't imagine being without her. I'm afraid to go to bed without her there. I don't know why I'm posting this, guess I needed to share the pain with some friends. Guest guest
Thank you, Christy. I'm not sure about getting another dog right now. I always have in the past. I have had other pets for over 12 years and eventually got another. I just thought she was getting old, not so sick. What is tearing me up, too, is that my younger cat is looking all over for my baby girl. The cat thought my dog was her mother. It does hurt. Guest guest
Whenever I've gotten a pet (except Angel, who just showed up, LOL) I always go to the Humane Society (or rescue, etc) and get one that's already housebroken. That way you're helping out a pet that's already here, and with working you don't have to go through the messy stage. Not to mention the teething stage. Angel was already trained when she came here, but it wouldn't have been as big a deal since I'm home all day....except the getting up at night part if she hadn't been. What kind of dog was yours? Guest guest
Fonda, You & your cat need to comfort each other. You'll know when it's time for another pet. Until then, love on your cat. I used to have a cat who would lie beside me & hold my hand when I was sad. It's been almost a year since we lost him, but I still miss him. Hugs, Re: I'm so sad Thank you, Christy. Guest guest
Thanks, . It occured to me today that she must have been at least 15 cause she had 2 litters of pups before i rescued her from some friends' neighbors. I had her 14 years, but it doesn't feel like enough.I think its because I had 5 miscarriages, and can't have kids, that I depend on my animals so much.I feel so guity, I should have known she was sick, I;m a nurse. I just thought she was old. Re: I'm so sad Fonda - I'm so so sorry to hear about your loss of your beloved pet. I grieve with you. Guest guest
Hugs Fonda! I still miss Cheyenne who we had to put to sleep in March due to the same thing. You need to get another dog to comfort you. If I didn't have Fred, my dog, I would have gotten another cat right away or a dog. I'm glad you told us. Wish I could be there to give you a hug personally. I know it's hard. I'm tearing up now. x0x0x0x0 Shirley -- I'm so sad I had to put my dog to sleep today. I had had her for 14 years.
