I do know that there are people in my building who get constant care during the day. There is a man who lives across from me. He needs a caretaker most of the time. But that person doesn't live here. They come in the morning and leave at night. I think that the state provides them (but I'm not sure). FYI - my apartment building is not classified as a sole Section 8/disabled/etc building. It's a mix of all kinds of people/financial situations/physical limitations. So, you might want to check out a regular apartment building that accepts those with special needs. You could have people come in to help during the day (make sure you get your medicines, exercise, and help with apartment stuff (like cleaning/cooking/laundry). I would suggest that you make some friends in the building for " car " needs when you have no help. Also, they make great resources! There are several people in my building in wheelchairs, who have scooters, are on crutches, use walkers, are Deaf, and we even one woman who is blind. I've seen lots of parttime aides in the building. Don't let it sound depressing to you, There are also people in the building who have no physical problems at all. It's like a mini melting pot. You just need to look around. Make sure the places you look at are on the bus (wheelchair accessible) line or have cabs or disabled transportation (door to door shuttle service - which also shoud be wheelchair accessible). BTW, my rent isn't anywhere near $2000 a month and includes both heat and hot water. I think YOUR $2000 also includes the aides (at least I hope so). Hope this helps, June
