Guest guest
I agree with , before my surgery I was told since I have other tumors in my head that needs to be watched, I use a disk outside so I can have future MRI'S without any trouble. Do you use little adhesive disks on your scalp so you can hook the transmitter coil to your head? If you don't, then your ns must have put the metal disk under the scalp. With that, you wouldn't be able to have an MRI, but they can remove it for you [really, they shouldn't have put it in in the first place since they knew you had NF2 and how important regular MRI's are for you]. Guest guest
I use the retainer disks and STILL have trouble getting some of these idiot MRI techs to do the scan. I was turned away from a place last year cuz the guy didn't want to " take a chance " on any of the internal wires or components causing probs. I got a letter from Dr. Brackmann stating I have had the ABI since '94 and have had numerous MRIs since with no trouble. With that letter in hand I had no trouble at the next place I went to. The first place I guess thought I was lying about having previous MRIs. Point is, the ABI is not common knowledge and the techs hear " implant " and start maiking assumptions. -Pat Dillon >>>>>>>>>>>>. Guest guest
I went for my annual MRI a few years ago, when I got there I told the tech. about my ABI and to call HEI if he had any questions. The bottom line is that they didn't want to do it after call HEI and as far as I was concerned since they never heard of an ABI or had the experience, I didn't want them to. Guest guest
I hear ya Pat (no pun intended) The first few times I had an MRI, the stupid techs said " Umm, ahhh whats an ABI........ " These people are supposed to be kept up to date. After waiting 4 hours while they talked to my Neuro, specialists interstate and every Tom Dick and Martha on the street they finally went ahead with it. Now I take an Xray showing my skull with the ABI where these dopey idiots can see for themselves that there is no magnet. Its worked 3/4 times so far.........
