I have never bought any GF bread that I thought was really good, but have

you tried Gluten-Free Pantry bread mix? I think most children would

tolerate the plain sliced bread and it is not difficult to make. I call it

my peanut-butter and jelly bread. Ann

Sandwich Bread for kid lunch

My 9-year-old son is newly diagnosed, and I'm having trouble finding

bread for his lunch. He used to eat tortilla wraps, but he hates

corn tortillas and the gluten-free tortillas I ordered online.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good sandwich bread for kids to

take sandwiches to school? My latest loaf of Sterk's crumbled as

soon as I opened it, and a lot of the rice breads are too thick and

heavy. Thanks.

I am not sure if it would be in your area, but I just discovered Deland Bakery frozen bread for my daughter. It is a millet base and very good. More like a traditional bread. Check in your health food stores and maybe they would even consider stocking it if they don't carry it. I discovered it here in South Carolina and I would never bake bread again while I am here. You could also check online to see if there is a retail person in your area. I think the web site is www.delandbakery.com but not real sure. Good luck in your quest. I thought

I had read somewhere that this bread was found not to be 100 % GF, perhaps due

to cross contamination or something.

I just rechecked their web site and do note they make other breads that do have gluten. So the chance of cross contanimation would be there. Thank the good Lord we have not had any problems in the three months we have used this bread. Thanks for mentioning this ann. Dot

The best bread that we have found so far was from www.glutenfreedelights.com. It is very good (as much like the "real thing" as I have found). They also have great dinner rolls and chocolate chip cookies).

If you don't mind me asking... are the tortillas that you mentioned (that your son did not like) the Don Pancho gf wraps?? I have been considering buying some, but have not heard many reviews. Anyone have any opinions on these?

MY BUBBLE IS BURST!!! Our local Wild Oats just started carrying the Deland Bakery Millet Bread, dinner rolls, etc. & they are great! The bread looks like a real homemade loaf of wheat bread, but apparently I need to stop buying it, wah! So far I have not seen a reaction in my son, so if there are any more of you who use this bread who would like to offer your 2-cents I would love to "hear" it.

Good Luck Patti - we have been using the Kinnikinnick products, up until the Deland discovery, & really love them. The english muffins are good for an individual size pizza & their reg. gf pizza crusts are better than the others I've tried. Also, the carrot muffins (I use them as cupcake substitutes sometimes, just add frosting), the cinn-raisin bagels & the almond cookies are some of our favorites. I place a big order a few times a year to maximize the $10 for shipping.

I really appreciate this group!!!!
