I just cancelled my appointment for now in Cleveland and have made an

appointment with Dr. Chieng in Houston. I am very excited about this

and hope it works out because I was very anxious about travelling to

Cleveland, etc. I hope that I am a candidate for PVA as I am on too

many drugs and the a-fib is starting to breakthrough once in awhile

(even on amiodarone, which is the only thing that has worked for me)

and I have to stay on Toprol in order to keep the PACS and PVS quiet

at night. It's good to be able to say all that without feeling too

neurotic as I don't think you can understand unless you've been

through it. Will keep you posted.

Dorthy, I just wanted to mention that there is a good Maze surgeon

in Houston, Dr. Duncan, if your PVA doesn't work out.

Please contact me if you want any more information on Dr. Duncan.

Best wishes and prayers

Jack, thank you for your reply. I have talked to Dr. Duncan as well,

but I thought I would see Dr. Chieng for a possible PVI before

undergoing maze. He has moved to Houston (St. Luke's) from Cleveland

Health Clinic, trained under Dr. Natale, and has done over 200

PVI's. It is getting more urgent to me to do something. I've had

chronic cough, sinus, and asthmatic bronchitis since I've been on

amiodarone this time. I don't think the Toprol helps either. Plus

with the different medications for bronchitis, etc. (prednisone,

Advair Diskus), it has been impossible to regulate my Protime, to the

point I don't know why I'm on coumadin. Will keep you posted (my

appointment with Dr. Chieng is on 10/18.

PVA

Had my PVA Monday at the Mayo by Dr. Packer. All veins ablated and

several other hot spots and two atrial flutter lines. On the table 10+

hours. Back home, feel o.k. (tired) and once again working (lightly).

Am having palpitations...sometimes quite a bit, other times not so much.

They are more when I'm lying down and far less when standing or sitting

up. Dr. Packer says not to be too concerned as this is typical so soon

after an ablation...that they've abused the heart and you can expect

such palpitations, and even possible runs of A-Fib, for up to 4-6 weeks.

Anyone else have this experience? Overall, he was optimistic but

wouldn't come right out and say I was cured...it was too early to tell.

One of my veins was 30-35% blocked (stenosis) following the

procedure...says it might become a problem but didn't seem too worried

(says we'll watch it closely).

Any thoughts would be appreciated...thanks!
