I was nervous too, but I was so sick of eggs for breakfast I couldn't wait to eat cereal. I just added a little of that and an apple the first day. I think you can add a little and then see how it goes. If you are eating the right carbs you shouldn't have a problem. You need a balanced diet. Good luck. Deb

Phase 2 question

Hi! I don't know if anyone has had this question before, but I want to ask those of you who are in Phase 2 a question. Were you afraid of going into phase 2, worrying that your carb cravings would return? That is my biggest fear...that the cravings will return, and that this time I won't be able to resist them. It seems easier for me in phase 1--it's almost a comfort zone for me, if you will--since I don't eat carbs that have triggered any starving hunger feelings, then I'm worried the carbs available in phase 2 *will* cause those cravings to return. How have YOU adjusted to phase 2, and did it cause problems for you? I haven't gone back to read in the book the part about transitiioning into phase 2....maybe that's what I should do. But I did read where he said it's okay to stay on phase 1 another week or two, since phase 2 slows down your weight loss. I have about 15 more pounds to go, and I know my loss will slow down eventually, however I'd like to get it off sooner than it will take if I were to go into phase 2. I would love your input and advice....I'm sorry if I've rambled!Have a great day!Rhonda in NV Reminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. I was a little worried about going on phase 2. I can honestly say adding some

carbs back in my diet did not give me any cravings. I added cereal every other

morning, and other carbs like rye bread, whole wheat pitas, strawberries,

apples, sweet potatoes, and popcorn. Not all in one day of course. One or two

" bready " carbs a day plus a fruit. I have no cravings except for a need to eat

something crunchy once in a while. i don't like nuts so I'll eat popcorn when

that urge hits. I've lost 12 pounds since Jan. 5. Not as fast as some other

people but I can live with this plan. I feel better and I know I'm eating

healthier.

I tried Atkins a few times and I was never able to last more than 2 weeks. The

hardest part is remembering not to count carbs but to eat good carbs. I hope

this helps.

Read this as " plain, fat-free yogurt " . It does exist.

Yes, there are nonfat, no-sugar-added yogurts. The yogurt will not ever be 'sugar free' because there is natural sugar in dairy products.

My favorite is Blue Bunny Lite 85. It is sweetened with Splenda, and is nonfat.

If you have a Super Walmart near you... you may find Blue Bunny there. Or, Super Walmart also has their own 'nonfat, no-sugar-added yogurt' you can try.

Good luck on Phase 2! (did you eat plain nonfat, no-sugar-added yogurt in Phase 1... it is allowed now)

Phase 2 question

Hi guys, I am starting my 4th week Monday. The first two weeks I lost 9lbs. so I decided to stay on phase 1 another week, so far I haven't lost anymore. It's a little depressing..but, I will plug along and start phase 2. I noticed that we can have non-fat,sugar-free yogurt..I can't find such an animal, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Kroger also makes a really good non fat, sugar free yogurt sweetened with Splenda. I am totally in love with the French Apple Pie flavor.
