Guest guest
Bless you Jane for sharing with us your experiences. You will never know how much comfort it has given me, I am just embarking on this trip into the unknown and this with your other message have sure helped me. Sharon thyca Hi, I am from the uk. and just want to share and compare a few things. First dont anyone be scared of the RAI. I was! No need. As i said before Im in the UK, so things may be slightly different. It really was ok. Scary at first. Taking the capsules and having a geiger counter pointed at you! Then they go away. By then I was hypo and could hardly drag myself around anyway. As the single mother of two boys the rest was positively welcome! I was paranoid about the radio active bit and knew that I did not want to bring home anything I had worn or touched. All my freinds " donated " an old T shirt. I wore them all, thought of my freinds and then put them in the bag to be disposed of! They were worn with love. TV was good. Patches for not being able to smoke!!!I wasnt able to touch a phone for a few days and then only with mask and gloves. How strange does that feel talking to the kids! All my freinds and family phoned all the time! Just with messages so I didnt feel alone. One freind sent a postcard a day! I took mags. Also I was advised by the Ward Sister, to order as much food as I could. So I would order 6 oclock supper, but also order sandwiches. Not only did it stave off hunger, but gave me a focal point for later in the evening. I found it good to organize my day. Time for " house work " etc.The only side effects I really got at the time were sore eyes! I am sure that there have been long term side effects, like my cattaracts, and a hatred of eating off paper plates with plastic knives and forks! but a small price to pay yeaH? My boys were 13 and 12 at the time so I was not allowed to have them home until I had returned to the hospital to have the good old Geiger couter pointed at me! At this time I was under the care of my surgeon and my oncologist. The Nuclear med team also, and they were great! Guest guest
BlankI have read several posts that it is not good to switch brands of medication. My doc has me on .137 levothroid Monday - Friday and .15 Synthroid Saturday/Sunday. Is this a common practice? My last TSH was 1.7 when we added the .15 Synthroid with symptoms of fatigue and feeling woozy at times. Woozy is best word I can use to describe the feelings. My concern is the mix of brands is this okay? I am just on week 3 of the new medication mix. Thanks, Judy New Castle, PA tt 1/25/01, RAI 50 mci 2/16/01 Pap/Foll CA
Guest guest
Gosh, I've never heard of anyone taking both brands. I don't think Synthroid is available in the .137 dose so that explains the Levothroid prescription, but why not just keep you on Levothroid for the higher .15 weekend dose? Ask you Dr. why the combination of brands -- he must have a reason. Guest guest
Hi Judy, I have never heard of using both brands concurrently, but I do think when people say you shouldn't switch, I think they mean back and forth. Just a guess, but I bet it's along the same lines as being consistent with the time and circumstance of taking the medicine. Consistency being the key word. It's my guess if it's working, it's OK. lindalee@... dx 12-96 follicular w/ bone mets 4 RAI= 840mCi 300mcg Synthroid HPTH Pgh., Pa Judy Muir wrote: > BlankI have read several posts that it is not good to switch brands of medication. > > My doc has me on .137 levothroid Monday - Friday and .15 Synthroid Saturday/Sunday. Guest guest
Hi Judy, My endo is a die-hard Synthroid believer. He reluctantly let me change to Levoxyl, but with the caution not to switch back and forth. I would ask my doctor his rationale for two brands at once. Just my thoughts on this after his telling me this two days ago. from NE Ohio --- Judy Muir wrote: BlankI have read several posts that it is not good to switch brands of medication.
