Guest guest
My daughter gets this also. The only thing that clears it up is a nystatin or lotramin type topical yeast treatment. Lotramin is over the coutner. Try it & see if it helps. Hannah hasn't had the corners of her mouth broken out since I started yeast treatments with her. At first, I thought it was yeast rash. But now we have cleared up > the yeast/gut/diarrhea problem (hopefully) and the rash is still there. This sounds like DH. Is your son gf, including lotions and medications? http://www.celiac.com/derm.html Dana
Guest guest
Hello Becky, >I am relatively new to this list. I am trying to figure out if my >four-year-old ASD son would benefit from chelation. I read somewhere in your >literature about kids with a mercury problem developing a mercury rash. What >would that look like and where would it be on the body? usually when people refer to mercury rash, they are talking about a rash during chelation, which they think is due to the increase in mercury being detoxed in the body. I've read that mercury can cause extreme skin sensitivity. I've had skin allergies for many years, myself (and was mercury toxic). I would not really suggest using any kind of rash as a diagnostic method. I *would* suggest getting familiar with the range of symptoms that mercury can cause. I think having many of these symptoms can be an important diagnostic indicator, but I would not go by one thing, especially something as unclear as a rash (rashes can be caused by MANY MANY things.) I have no idea if your son's rash is from mercury--- you may eventually come to some conclusion about it yourself, for example if you do end up chelating, and if the rash changes. Even then, there is some speculation in it Here is info on a method to look for mercury toxicity. Guest guest
I noticed my son had a rash under his arms and on his chest. This was only while he was bathing and on a Thursday after a chelation weekend. I haven't seen it since and that was 4-5 rounds ago. Guest guest
Hello Rose: I've read about mercury rashes on and off on this list. It seems to happen. I'm chelating my 10 yr old (ADHD - NT) son and when we first started he did get a red rash on his left forearm. It was ichy and bugged him a little. It disappeared after 3 or 4 days and has not returned. He also has had some kind of rash inside his mouth a few times. They were very soar and took about a week to 10 days to heal. These have also not returned in a while. I don't have more for you than that for now. In Christ's love and mine...Jen : ) On Wed, 03 Apr 2002 21:53:31 -0000 " rosefeurer " <rfeurer@...> writes: On one of my listservs I vaguely remember some discussion about " mercury rash " with DMSA. Is this for real? I did an archives search, but got too many hits. My son has developed a nasty rash just below his lip, it comes and goes. Thanks Rose
