Guest guest
If WW didn't work for you, then I am wondering if you have a very low metabolism. Tips I have learned to raise your metabolism are 1. increase muscle mass, by doing some weight lifting such as while you are waiting for a pot to boil take a can of vegetables in each hand and do various arm raises. Walking, bike riding up hill Aerobic bike riding doesn't do it. Maybe light weights on your wrists and ankles while vacuuming etc. 2. increase water consumption with a minimum of half your body weight in ounces. What this means is: if you weigh 200 lbs drink 100 ounces. Drinking even 1 liter less will reduce your metabolism level! 3. sleep a minimum of 6 hours, preferably 8-9, not over 10. Sleep deprivation also reduces metabolism. 4. fidgit. While watching TV swing your legs, wiggle your feet etc. 5. Now this must be done with great caution, sit in a tub of water as hot as you can stand it for 15 minutes. AFTER THE 15 MINUTES COOL THE WATER DOWN AND SIT A MOMENT BEFORE RISING THEN RISE SLOWLY! Try to get 3 times a day, though this is hard to do. Watch your pulse and if it gets much over your target range, cool the water! I have trouble with my metabolism. I failed every diet I tried but this one is doing well, I feel so much healthier! And it's a way of life that you can live with forever! ette

Guest guest
If WW didn't work for you, then I am wondering if you have a very low metabolism. You know, I was wondering that too. I can tell you that WW didn't work for me. I finally went to my Doctor and had a thyroid test run. it came back normal but I screamed hollered and pitched a fit. I was doing everything right and nothing was working. He put me on a low dose of thyroid. The Heavens opened up and all manner of things came right within 48 hours. I'd been on anti depressants, freezing cold and all of that changed. I was what is called sub clinical low thyroid. Now I am going to an " alternative doctor " (sort of ooga booga) all sort of supplements, etc. and he uses a temperature test AND a medical thyroid test. I'm low thyroid. The funny thing is that irrespective of taking the thyroid supplement, my thyroid test doesn't change. That tells me that the test is not exactly very accurate. It should have gone up with the supplement but it stayed the same. I'm not saying everyone should rush out and demand thyroid....but if you're being really religious on any diet (and I mean religious) and it's not working and you're working out 3-5 times a week and nothing is happening....1) make sure you're not putting on muscle...(it weighs more than fat...the scale won't budge but things fit better) and then 2) at least talk to your doctor about have the thyroid test run. PS...I eventually went to a fat doctor and went on Optifast....guaranteed 800 calories a day.... & worked out like a madman, and was on thyroid meds, and even then, I only lost 1.7 pounds a week. Now I'm on SBD, still working out and maintaining, not losing BUT I'm not being religous....and am pretty OK with my weight. Am 54 yrs. old and the older I get, the harder it is to gain muscle, lose weight, etc. Just a few thousand things for anyone to consider having trouble with diets :-) lynn
