Guest guest
Shirley, Apply for the foodstamps but also apply for a provider through your state dept of human services. People in texas who can't afford to pay someone to assist can get a provider for up to 3hrs a day 5 days a wk. They can do shopping for you or light housekeeping, things you can't do. But the trick is when they interview you, make sure you sound as bad as possible. Most of the DHS workers try to find reasons to disqualify people so say no I can't do any laundry, no I can't clean, They will even ask you if you can bath yourself. You could even say, I've just been whipping of because I can't get into the bathtub or shower by myself for fear of falling. Do you have any local home health agencies? They could put you on service for 60 days and get you a social worker who would help you do all this. Plus it would look good in court that since Steve has left, your health has declined and you are having to resort to outside help just to function. in Texas Email me if you have any questionsShirley wrote: anyone on food stamps? I think I'm going to apply. I won't get much I don't think and I really don't need much. I just need $ to buy milk and small stuff at the end of the month after my SSDI is gone in bills. I downloaded the form. I need a lot of proof to take in. I will try to do it in a couple of weeks. I need to wait until all the utility bills come in. Well some I have to print from online cause I don't get the paper bills anymore. All of this is starting to catch up with me fatigue-wise. The house is a mess. The toilets are gross and the sinks too. Steve is coming over Thurs to pick stuff up. I should leave it all a mess so he can see I can't keep up on stuff so when it comes up in court he shouldn't fib about me keeping a clean house...lol I'm going to bed. Early for me, but I am so exhausted! Nite all. take care, Shirls
Guest guest
Shirley: Here in Arizona there's a program for people who are disabled. It's through social services and you have to qualify. They will send in a housekeeper once or twice a week and a nurse if needed. You could call your local social services to see what they have for you. The stress isn't good for you, as you know. Good luck and try to take it easy. hugs))) Sharon (MSersLife Group Owner/Creator) It's not easy taking my problems one at a time when they refuse to get in line. ~Ashleigh Brilliant food stamps anyone on food stamps? Guest guest
Great advice '. That's the same kind of program I was talking about but I couldn't come up with the right words this morning. Follow her advice, Shirley. It's not lying --it's just knowing what to say to get the services you need. And you do need the services. Guest guest
A providor in most states is called an In-Home Support Worker, and one usually has to get a smidgeon of County $$.00 aid in order to get the food stamps, but hey, go for what they offer where YOU live! Guest guest
Hi Shirley, I'm not, but I was years ago for a bit. Do you know if your state has the cards now instead of the paper "stamps"? Works like a debit card and the register. Very interesting. lol AZ didn't have that those years ago, but they do now. It might take a couple weeks to get an appointment. With Food Stamps, if you're approved, they're prorate back to when you applied. Might be worth calling to find out how long you'd need to wait for that appointment, then set it and know you'll have your paperwork in time. ) If you need it, you may be able to qualify for a "food box" at the end of the month when things are running slim. Maybe a referal through a church (or a church might have their own), through the Food Stamp office and other such places? Good *luck*! Hugs, Challis Shirley wrote: anyone on food stamps?
