Patient has elevated bilirubin...shouldn't this be Gilbert's syndrome???

Per Stedman's Online:

Joubert's syndrome

agenesis of the cerebellar vermis, characterized clinically by attacks of

tachypnea or prolonged

apnea, abnormal eye movements, ataxia, and mental retardation.

That would be Gilbert's syndrome. The doctor is using the French

pronunciation. Jobourt syndrome is a congenital, neurological disorder that

has nothing to do with these symptoms.

Per Stedman's Online:

Joubert's syndrome

agenesis of the cerebellar vermis, characterized clinically by attacks of

tachypnea or prolonged

apnea, abnormal eye movements, ataxia, and mental retardation.

I think the answer of Joubert's syndrome is incorrect. I think Gilbert's

syndrome is correct in this instance. It's pronounced " Jio-bares " .

Gilbert's is in my Stedman's GI/GU book, the GI guys I transcribe for say

this quite often, and it fits better in this context because Gilbert's is

defined, per Stedman's, as familial nonhemolytic jaundice. Hope this helps
