Oh Walt

Thanks for the laugh. That is a day in the life of me too. And they have a

name for it. Absolutely brilliant.

Walt !!

Great story. Now I'm not quite sure whether you're being serious about

there being a diagnosis for this common experience, but all I'd like to

say is that having some time ago learnt " mindfulness meditation " it

teaches you that this is what the mind " just does " anyway. The only

trouble with doing half a job on learning meditation (which is all I

have managed) is that it teaches you to notice this constant stream of

mind flitting from one thing to another, but doesn't actually get you as

far as stopping it !!

I keep trying to tell my Mum, too, that her " forgetfulness " is not her

age, that all of us get it, and to stop worrying, start chilling, and

find a less complex mode of living.

Now what was I doing......

Best of health to all,

Vicky

This all started when I was told that the mind is the first thing to go when

you get older. Its not really true, but I can't remember what was first..

Lots of other things have gone first, in fact there is a daily rush to see

which one of my few remaining things that still work, are going to be first

out the door. Life is fun, and should not be wasted on the young, but held

for the young at heart. Hope that all will be better for you soon vic, and

may each day bring you peace. Walt in SC. I JUST REMEMBERED WHAT WAS THE

FIRST TO GO, MEMORY. I think.

As my friend says. WE only notice it more. How many times do you have to

remind a child about what they are supposed to be doing. How many times does

a child say oh I forgot I had homework, I forgot that we were going out. oh

I forgot you asked me to do the dishes. the list is endless.

At least when you are a child you have someone to pick up the peices.

Where's my Mum!!!?

Fran.

There was an article about this in some magazine, maybe Prevention,

by a shrink who does the same thing. His diagnosis - life is too

complicated now :-) we need to simplify things.

I heard a great quote about one of the American Presidents (forget which

one, but obviously not one universally held in great esteem)

" He's like a child - you tell 'em to go turn off the lightswitch and

when they get there they've forgotten what they went for "

Best of health to all,

Vicky
