Lynnie, I am blown away by your post! I think I posted my Melleril

experience here before and I was given Cogentin once to counteract a

suicidal reaction to an anti-depressant. It was a shot and within minutes

broke everything open in my head-it was SO wonderful to feel normal but it

only lasted about 24 hrs. I got a Dr. to let me try it some months later. At

first it made things start breaking open like my sense of touch was like

someone took gloves off and I had never felt textures before, I was amazed

at how many items had textures and that things like soap smelled so strong.

But after a few days it started getting scary feeling. I think perhaps I was

taking too much. Of course, the Dr.s never beleive me when I tell them this

kind of reaction so I get no help.

Did you know Melleril is one of the drugs that actually will cause a

deficiency of pyruvate dehydrogenase complex in the brain?

I tried 50mg of Zoloft the last 3 days and have fought the depression very

hard all 3 nites so I am quitting it. Again, Dr.s don't beleive I can feel

these medications this quickly, but the ADD Clinic said this is common for

ADD patients and also that only tiny amts. will help them tremendously and

normal doses will many times worsen them.

I was just told by a child psychiatrist to try 5mg daily of liquid Paxil for

. Will get on the internet and search. If any of you know about this

med. please share with me.

Dear and all:

Daughter, Amy, 22 years old is on Mellaril and Cogentin to address

third-stage dementia (mito-symptom.) Problem is that the mellaril

exaserbates Amy's " parkinsonisms " so the Neuro stopped these meds and tried

Zoloft. Big mistake! Amy had seizures, complex partial, which she never had

before (although she has all the other kinds of seizures) and she wound up in

the ER over night. I'm not saying Zoloft isn't a good med, it just didn't

cover Amy's symptoms... Personally, I think it reacted with her other meds

AND her unusual metabolism. I hope youall have better luck with the Zoloft.

Mito is succh an interesting disease, i.e. all the different ways it

manafests its self !

I am hoping all the best for you and yours,

Lynnie

Dear :

It never ceases to amaze me how daft medical professionals can be! One look

at the micro-mess of chemicals that we call our body, and the

micro-differences between people, even in the same family, and you would

think that they, of all people, would not question the awsome differences in

med-sensitivity. Thanks for shareing your experence!

I take 10 mg of Paxil a day with no problems. It takes the edge off and I am

less likely to get really

upset about things. It makes me more " normal " . Now that is a scary word for a

mitochondriac to use.
