Guest guest
Hey frank,I have shaved my head,or even a mohawk.I have had 4 big surgeries, various other scars up there, plus a shunt. My family thinks ird when I go bald, and yeah people stare.I'll tell you though,it's all in the attitude buddy Jimmy(I'm rubber and your glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you) Hair > >Thanks, ! > Good luck with keeping your hair. Remember, bald is beautiful if your luck runs out in that area. > My dad was bald - he said it is much easier to take care of - he just had a high forehead. > I am up in the middle of the night. I had to turn on my air conditioning again because it is so warm in my apartment. We seem to be having an Indian Summer here in Southeast Iowa (USA). Need to breath so I lower the temperature. Then I can not get back to sleep - too many thoughts running through my mind (not sweet dreams) so I turn on my computer. > I haven't been able to skate for a long time. When I was a kid (long, long ago!!!!) I was skate queen of the block!!!! I was a daredevil, too!!! > You know I guess I would be considered " middle age " now but since I went completely deaf I feel like I am living in another life time. It is hard to remember hearing. I can't remember the sound of people's voices. That is why I say everything seems so long, long ago (jokingly) but it really does. > Sweet dreams!!!! > Jane > > > > > > >

Jane, I'm young (25) I used to run crazy with my two best friends. Dancing living it up. I miss staying up all night just to talk or watch a movie. Seems like now I'm zonked at 10 30 unless I am laying awake stressing over events that happened during my day or are soon to happen. I can't hardly walk in the dark now there was a time I could run in 4 inch heels and dance most of the night away, now i can hardly walk in flats. I feel like my life is slowly going downhill all i can do is sit and watch. I know on the other hand thats not totally true....I make my own destiny and I need to start trying harder. Ok enough of that I have wet hair and need it dry so i can go out in the rain to a dr appt. Sara

Guest guest
You're right Jimmy -- it's all in the attitude! The first time my head was shaved (they were going to do half so I told them to do it all!) we'd been planning a cruise. My husband wondered if we should cancel & I told him NO! I didn't care if they had to take me on a stretcher -- I was going! Had a ball! My hair was about 1/8" long -- not enuf to cover the 9 holes & connect-a-dot lines, but much of the time I just wore scarves. Bright, pretty scarves tied in all sorts of ways. It made me feel better & if somebody else didn't like it that was their problem, not mine. Didn't get to do everything I'd planned (scuba diving, etc.,) but enjoyed it just the same! Guest guest
The thread about operations and hair struck a cord with me. Below is a message I sent to the listserv a few years ago. Guest guest
Don't want to scare the ladies.Just wanted to say,my mom had her head shaved in like late 60's or so.She was in her early 20's at the time.Don't know why,but it never grew back.So y'all be thankful when it does:) Jimmy(has no pictures of him and his mom, where she isn't wearing a wig) Hi Jimmy, When I was a student at Gallaudet University, there was a tradition called "Bald Day" where the Freshman class shaved their heads. Both males and females did it. A Lot of the class participated. They tried to beat the number of participants from the previous year. No, I didn't do it. I've had enough bald experiences, thank you ) I think they still do this. June

Guest guest
Georgia - Thanks for the sharing! You are wonderful! Jane hair Jane, I know what you mean about losing your hair being devastating. I have been extremely lucky on that front. I have only had one surgery on my head, and the shearers left the front bits in place as well as all the hair on the right side. However, my hair used to be very long, past my waist, and I had to cut the whole lot - or what was left - to chin length afterwards. I was VERY anti having it cut before. When I was well enough to appear in polite society I used to put the hair in a pony tail though I must admit that it looked pretty silly with my round face even rounder because of the swelling. Even though I was able to keep a reasonable amount of hair, having to have it cut was a nightmare. I hadn't had short hair since I was ten. When the girls - you know, the ones who are only 14 months apart - were little, I go sick of jamming the plait in the car door and everybody including me sitting on it, so I got the hairdresser to trim it. She took off 11 1/2 inches (we measured the bits) and when I got home nobody noticed. My hair is now waist length again and if anybody wants to cut my head open again they are more than welcome to as long as they can figure out a way to do it without a razor in sight. Godiva -- sorry, Rapunzel --, oh blast it, you know who I am. Georgia

Guest guest
I have been waiting to comment. I did not think it was very important..my hair that is. well before the first btin surgery i needed my head shaved. That day and age, 1985< they shaved EVRTHING off!, The head i mean I was bald for several weeks OMG!!!!!!!! I hated it. I felt so insecure and wanted to paste my hair back on. I was allowed to keep it since it is part of your body and in NYS you can keep part of your body so I kept my hair. threw it out several years later tho. joanie

Not to be outdone, she had my brother-in-law wear dresses and skirts as a kid! >Dear Crew, > >My Auntie always wanted a little girl.
