Guest guest
Dear : I don't know how old your son is or even if he can take this...but the prescription drug Elavil (Amtriphyline) helps people to gain weight. It is an anti-depressant but one of the uses is for weight gain. My son was on it for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and he gained quite a bit of weight....but the down side to it is that it constipated him (he has mito too) and he had to discontinue it. I don't know if your son has constipation problems, but if he does then maybe this is not good for him either. I just thought I would mention this to you. Ask your doctor about it. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Trish and , How odd on the constipation thing as I understood they also give Elavil to help with irritable bowel syndrome. All the anti-depressants I took always helped to loosen me up. S.
