Hi,

I just watched the Chiari Segment, or atleast 1 of them, with Dr. Frim. He

says there is a 90% Success Rate with Surgery. Does this seem right? Or does

it atleast seem right for just his group of Patients with Chiari? I am not

going to define the word Success, because that could mean several things.

Take Care,

Brande

Hi,

I don't believe he specified in the Show that I watched. But it was a

College Student that he was Operating on......I would have to say she was

between 18-20 Years Old.

Brande,

Try watching it again.

The announcer says " in children and young adults like the 18-year Kaya (?),

chiari surgery has a 90% success rate. Most chiari patients go on to live a

normal life. "

Dr Frim says " we'll have to see over the next few days and weeks, if she does

or does not continue to have these fainting spells, whether her headaches

begin to dissipate, whether her left arm becomes stronger. I think it is a

better than even chance that many if not all, of these symptoms may go away.

but it doesn't always work 100%. "

ACMTWEETY@... may have some more tapes to sell if you want to check it

out again.

Best regards,

Hi All,

My question on the 90% success rate that Dr. Frim is seeing on pediatric

cases is, how long has he been doing chiari surgery on pediatric and how long

is the follow up? What is the criteria for success?

I am not criticizing Dr. Frim, I just wonder how doctors in general consider

success.

Hi,

This might have been said, I just don't remember it. So he does include

Adults in this......or atleast a certain group of them.

I do remember this being said...........but if I remember right, they did a

recap and said she did improve. Right, he did say that everybody may not be

back to 100%.

If it does Air again, I sure will watch it. I have watched that Channel

quite a bit since we got it.
