nne,

i hope you don't mind a question for you...i'm just confused if i should pursue this. It doesn't pertain to BC per se, but i've had this mass about the size of a golf ball on the back of my neck--like my 2nd or 3rd cervical vert. area. I have shown it to different 'types' of docs over the years-yes years, and they've just kind of shrugged it off. Recently it seems to be slightly spreading/growing and pushing slightly on my cervical spine and causing discomfort. Among the docs that have said, ahh, probably just a fatty tumor, don't worry about it, have been dermatologists, internal med. dr., my psychiatrist, acupuncturist...i try not to dwell on it, but now that it is changing, i'm feeling worried again. Do YOU think i should be concerned? and if so, what sort/type of doc would you consult with? I guess if there wasn't so much history of cancer in my family, i would not be as concerned. In my dad's family-his sister died of ovarian or cervical ca, i forget which, and his brother had skin ca that mets to his liver, my mom prob. has malignant lund ca, as did her brother who passed at 47 from it, and their dad (my grandfather) had throat ca. Sorry i didn't mean this to be so long...i appreciate your sharing about all you did within the PTA and school system and am inspired by your lapgans you create! blessings and thanks, kate To give with limitations> > > n, you are right. Kate,

Any lump of any kind/place should be checked out. I know my m-i-l had fatty tumors but I wouldn't want to guess if thats what your problem is. If it is growing it should be checked. You didn't mention a family doctor. If you have one I would go to him/her, and INSIST they refer you to a specialist that would know something about this type of thing. Maybe a surgeon would be of more help. I wonder if a cat scan, ultrasound or MRI would show anything. If your family dr won't help then I would call your hospital and ask to talk to the patient advocate and explain the problem to him/her. How about the neurologist does him/her have any suggestion? I sure wish I could be of more help. I will keep you in my prayers.

Sharon,

I cannot just sit and do nothing. It drives me crazy. I think too much and thats not a good thing. I have to be crocheting or looming if I am sitting otherwise I keep getting up to find something to do.

I even started crocheting in the car.

hehehe nne! Not crocheting in the car while you're driving?? only teasing. What size loom do you have? I loved looming when i took it in high school. I even made my own frame loom--like a lap loom, not a big upright one.

Hey, wound up i was able to get an appt. with an oncologist yesterday. The lump on my neck is merely a lipoma, but with the history of cancer on both sides of my family, he thought it was wise to have it checked. He said only 1 in 100k lipomas become malignant. He will recheck it in 3 mos. Also, he encouraged me very much to have a mamogram very soon--it has been like 4 or 5 yrs since i've had one, and i'm 47 this year. I'll ask my primary to write a script when i go in for my very thorough physical nov. 28.

off to Starbucks and then to sing and play at nursery school! Enjoy your day! blessings to you and Chuck and everyone on list! kate To give with limitations> > > n, you are right. Well I am not as talented as Chuck and our 2 sons. They can steer the car with their knees while eating Big Macs!! Actually Timmy has been known to do it with his semi but not very often.

Let see, my friend got the Knifty Knitter round set and that made me curious so when Hobby Lobby had them half off we got a set. Then waited to get their purple one. In the meantime we joined a Knifty Knitters grouop and Loom Knitters Group. One of ladies that makes and sells looms had one for sale and I asked her if she did this very often as I didn't have the money right then. I told her I did charity work and she said she had an oblong one that had wooden pegs if I wanted to pay the shipping. I said OK :-) Its oblong approximately 25 inches and 78 pegs. Then she threw in another that is smaller, its oblong too and the pegs are closer. Then Hobby lobby had their new long looms on sale so we got those. At that time Chuck was kind of into looming too but has since given it up. Then a friend got me an infinity loom for making her an afghan. That one is a real pain in the neck to try to work with. Its in a figure 8. If you want to see picutres I can see if Chuck can get the camera to work.

Boy you must be good with woodworking to make your own loom! Thats great!!!

I am so glad you got to see the oncologist. Please please please get a mammogram. Its so important and when caught early the survival rates are great. Even with Stage IV there are a lot of ladies living fairly normal lives. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hugs
