Hi all,

I am back from my vacation on board the Carnival Cruise

Ship " Triumph " . At first I was a little nervous, because upon

booking they told me that they would let the Maitre'D know about my

special diet, but couldn't promise anything. As soon as I boarded, I

went to the dining room to talk with the Maitre'D and let him know

about the GLuten Free Diet. I was pleased to find that they knew

about about the diet. However, they did not have my name down as

needing to be Gluten Free. When he called up the list of special

diets, I noticed several people with no Wheat or No Gluten next to

their names. The Maitre'D did then update my record and before each

meal discussed with me my choices. One of the formal nights, he even

had them prepare a special flourless chocolate cake for the GF

people. If he wasn't available, the head waiter was just as

knowledgable. Dinner was easy because it was the same people every

night, but the open seating for breakfast and lunch was different

staff. If they didn't understand, I would just go to the Maitre'd

and he would take care of it for me.

They also were very accomodating at the Lido Grill for off hours

dining. There they made burger, hotdogs, chicken, steak sandwiches,

etc... They also served Fries that were cooked in a dedicated

fryer. They got to know me pretty well, because I always ordered

without the rolls.

I even got the people at the Asian grill to prepare me a beef dish

without the soy sauce one day.

I was also happy to find that they soft serve ice cream that was

available 24 hours a day was GF.

I didn't chance eating anything at the ports and would take fruit

with me to tide me over. It is very interesting to try to explain

the GF diet requirements to the people in Cozumel. I had answers

like - there is no glue or flowers in any of our food.

Overall the experience was a very good one and I would highly

recommend a cruise to anyone on a GF diet. From what I have heard,

the rest of the cruise lines are even more accomodating, Royal

Carribean even made GF bread for my neice.

Hi and everyone,

Thanks for sending that information regarding your cruise. It's reassuring that they will accommodate us celiacs. I got a kick out of what they said in Cozumel about that there is no glue or flowers in their food...
