I am going to my OB at 16 weeks- will she check my cervix???? how did

your contractions feel at 16 wks????

Your OB may check your cervix- if not, I would ask. In addition to

my OB, I have seen a maternal-fetal specialist every 2 weeks from

about 11 weeks through 34 weeks. They're the ones who checked my

cervix every 2 weeks via transvaginal u/s. Your regular OB can do

that too though.

My contractions at 16 weeks felt as though just a portion of my

uterus was hardening. It was barely noticeable at first- I couldn't

feel them unless I had my hand on my uterus. They have gotten

stronger as the pregnancy progresses...

also were you allowed to travel throughout the preg????

I was allowed to travel, but the nurses at my OB's office suggested I

not do so after 24 weeks, just in case I went into premature labor.

The high risk OB said I could travel up to 28 weeks if mcervix was

stable (which is was) and the contractions were not increasing. So I

cut myself off at 24 weeks (mid-October). I took a vacation around

15 weeks because I was nervous about traveling. In retrospect, I was

probably overly cautious and would definitely consider traveling a

little later in the pregnancy next time.

I have high hopes for your pregnancy. When in doubt, be

conservative. It can't hurt!

I had an amnio done at 20 weeks after receiveing a bad

AFP result. The amnio wasnt that bad and best of all

I got to find out that this little girl is 100%

healthy! But the amnio is totally up to you! DH and

I were so confused as to what to do.

Sorry if this made you even more confused!

30 weeks this Friday!!!!

type of MA do you have?????( I can't keep track...) I am 34 with BU/

I am 26 with a BU (middle part coming all the way down

to just about the cervix!).

If you decide to go with the AFP and receive a bad

reading - please keep in mind that there are alot of

false positives!

Be careful with AFP/ Triple Screen. I got a misleading result with

one simply because the nurse did not believe that I knew exactly when

I conceived, and used her little due date calculator wheel instead.

So my results came back all screwed up . . . until my OB, who *did*

believe me (he was the one who did the inseminating) corrected for

the proper due date. Then my results came back excellent, and I

decided to skip the amnio. I didn't want the increased risk of

miscarriage that comes with it.

- what tests did they do to find out how far down the septum

goes????? I got prg before they did any more tests (actually did not

even recommend any, just said I was BU and that was that)- I would be

interested to know, In my ultrasounds, you can see the two horns, the

baby is in the right one- and implaned in the middle- I am relieved

to hear you are BU and 30 weeks- !!!! an inspiration!

Thanks!!!! I too know EXACTLY when we conceived (not so romantic this

way) and they have been on target with all my appts, and ultrasounds,

etc.....

You probably just laugh at all these nurses and things by now!!! you

know more than they do-!!!

Then my results came back excellent, and I

that is what we will prob do- provided the results are good!

I didn't want the increased risk of

yes, agreed, don't need any EXTRA risks on top of the ones I came

with!!!

Thanks again for your words of wisdom mixed with quite a good bit of

wit!!!

I have midwestern ties- My DH is from MN (Minneapolis) and they think

its fun to " vacation " in the north woods, we drove there from Atl in

Sept.--- Maybe if you guys gather in the midwest I might be up there

visiting the relatives!!!!!!!!
