I just heard *very casually* on the Today Show that one of the nine

trapped miners in Pennsylvania had developed an irregular heartbeat.

VT would be scary. However, I doubt that it would be sustained V-Tach unless

they diagnosed an intermittent rhythm after he got out. The heart cannot stay in

V-Tach without degenerating into V-Fib for an extended period of time. They for

sure did not diagnose this while he was trapped. The news media get's very

confused when it comes to arrhythmias. I will look into this.

Here is the quote from CNN's website:

<<Fogle, Unger and Foy remained hospitalized Monday at Memorial Medical Center.

Foy and Unger were likely to be released later Monday, and Fogle, who was

experiencing a rapid heart rate, will remain hospitalized for at least another

day, said Dr. Dumire. All are doing well, he said.>>

I would be interested in what rhythm they are talking about.

Hi, all,

I live in Central PA and we are so proud and thankful for the successful

rescue of our miners! The miner with the irregular heartbeat is the one who

had experienced chest pains while down in the mine, and as a result, was the

first miner lifted out during the rescue operation. He was placed in the

section of the hospital for telemetry monitoring. At the news conference

today, the three who were still hospitalized were in wheelchairs and he was

still hooked up to the telemetry equipment. I haven't heard any details of

what sort of irregular heartbeat he has experienced, but I will post if I

come across any information.

Personally, I have found stress to be a very bad trigger for my afib. Taking

half of a xanax in stressing times helps a lot.
