Guest guest
Hi ya'll My problem is breakfast. I want to skip it, but end up very hungry when I do so. The reason I want to skip is b/c I hate traditional breakfast foods. I don't like cereal and milk, toast, oatmeal, or most breakfast foods. And eggs are too rich for me. So for the first time in my life I sat here this morning and thought, what DO I want? And it came to me. A bagel with cream cheese (perhaps the salmon spread kind), and a banana, and some milk. I am struggling and horrified right now. I can't eat that! Because I can't lose weight on that! What do you all think? By the way, another problem is my husband is on a renal (kidney) diet because he only has 20% kidney function from his bone marrow transplant. Should I give myself permission to eat foods different from his? I haven't picked them up from the store. Perhaps I should love myself enough to do so. Any advice would be appreciated. God bless, Krissy
Guest guest
Hi Carol. My husband is on a renal diet b/c he only has 20% kidney functioin and had to be dialyzed. A renal diet is low in sodium, potassium, and phosphorus. He can only have 8 ounces of milk or dairy products a day (too high in phosphorus). He can't have potatoes, tomatoes, and bananas b/c they are too high in potassium. He can't have canned or processed food b/c there is too much sodium. There is a long list of foods (fruits and veggies especially) that he cannot eat. He has to control his portion sizes, and can only have a certain amount of food choices a day. He has to keep his fat level down to two tbs. a day (ie. mayo and butter). Just curious, why are you interested in renal diets? Anyway, as you all can see, it appears that my husband and I are going to have to eat differently. Guest guest
I eat what ever I want for breakfast. left overs, frozen dinner. I have been addicted to healthy choice or a lean cuisine for at least one meal a day. The beauty of it is I live alone so no one else is expecting me to cook them a meal le From: IntuitiveEating_Support [mailto:IntuitiveEating_Support ] On Behalf Of aSent: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 7:19 AMTo: IntuitiveEating_Support Subject: Breakfast Hi ya'llMy problem is breakfast. Those little tumors cause high blood calcium (complicated) which ruins the kidneys. 4 out of 10 of my glomeruli were scarred before they figured it out. I have been on prednisone for over a year but my creatinine will be high from now on.
Guest guest
Eat what your body is telling you that it wants, even if it is different from your husband's meal. As far as bagels, I like the minis. Have you thought of those instead of a whole regular sized bagel? Lea > > Hi ya'll > My problem is breakfast.
