Guest guest
Any of you who are trying the B6 increases, at what ages did your children start having seizures? And, what improvements have you seen that you may be able to attribute to the B6? Thank you in advance for your responses. I believe in B6. Mitch was four and a half when he started seizing but his cognition improved on B6; my other boys all have mild neurological issues and I give it it to them too. I also give them taurine; they seem to need both. But I think especially the B6. We give it with the other B vitamins but heavy on the B6. I know they would never get the diagnosis of pyridoxine deficient but I will swear up and down it has helped my boys. With cognition, depression, stabilizing irritability and ADHD type symptoms. It's hard to say it has prevented a seizure here or there but I bet it has. Something genetic??? I don't know. I'm sure someday they will find out. My child also was not born with seizures but they started as just petit mals somewhere between her 5th and 6th birthday. While we can not pin point exactly when they started we are pretty sure she was not born with them. I am in the process of talking with my doctor and dietitian about this now. I will let you know what they think and I would really appreciate it if you would do the same if you hear of anything that is not posted on this list. Guest guest
I was also wondering about this. My son also started sz comparatively late at 4 1/4 yrs of age, as 'staring episodes' to begin with. Now he has a very messy EEG and probably lot more issues added on by AED's for seven yrs. I would like to try B6. We tried it some time ago but didn't see a difference, the dose was probably too low. I'm waiting for things to stabilize and for the school holidays when things can be tried out. Guest guest
, I can let you know that the B-6 helped . I had him on it earlier and he still had seizures so I took him off. We were taking 400 mg divided thru the day. In about 4 days his mild eye movement with a turn of the head changed to a full head drop. I decided to do the B6 again. His head drops went back down to maybe one a day with him still experiencing the eye movement with the head twitch and a periodic whole body twitch. He has been breaking out on his face, chest and a few spots on his arm. I thought it was the meds, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't the B-6. The B6 can cause a rash with an over dose. I didn't want my neuro to blame that so I took him off his dose last night and this morning. Well at church today he had head drops about a minute apart for 10 minutes straight. I had to give him diastat. So if the rash is from the B6, too bad. I am not taking him off of it again. I may try just giving him a morning and evening dose to see if we still get good control over the head drops.
